( if it is pure with nothing added) No. It's a great probiotic (I used it myself, pre-SCD), but it's a mix of yeasts and bacterias, and is not a good idea until significant healing has taken place. 3) Is Barley grass juice powder legal? No. Barley grass juice, if you make sure all the seed coats are removed from each individual blade, then juice the grass, could be legal if properly diluted. (Full strength WILL give a body the runs. Tried it.) With a commercial powder, you don't know what else they might have added to it during the processing, or how many of the seed hulls may have gotten dried and ground in. 4) Why are Hemp seeds illegal? All seeds are heavy in lignins which are difficult for us to process. 5) also, I am in Newport Beach CA, does anyone know where I can get Organic Dry curd cheese? Can't help you with this one. Closest I came to organic DCCC was a product made by a local dairy which is not being made since Hurricane Katrina. But then I found regular DCCC and haven't worried too much about. Most of the time, I still use yogurt cheese from my homemade yogurt. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

It WILL seem overwhelming and incredibly restrictive at first, but I can testify to the absolute healing that occurs! And ... it DOES get easier. If you have a Gelson's Market in your area, they should carry DCCC. It is produced by Friendship Dairies and the Gelson's here in Ventura County where I live calls it " hoop cheese. " They don't typically carry large quantities, but I've learned that I can call the person who manages their speciality cheeses and they will order me a full loaf (usually about 3lbs or so) and that also gives me a 10% discount. The stuff is not cheap, but it freezes really well. I don't really care for it, so I don't use it much except to make zucchini lasagna (as a replacement for ricotta). For the cheesecake in the intro diet, I always used well-dripped half and half yogurt instead of DCCC. But if your wife liked cottage cheese, she'll like DCCC. Good luck! Ah, now I get it. I assume you like this better than just with milk? Cheers, DF in MA UC June '07 SCD Nov '

I assume you like this better than just with milk? It's yummy - also yogurt made with cream or any combo thereof of cream/milk/half and half. For a while I was making this yogurt from two parts goat milk and one part heavy cream that was just yum. But they all have their purposes. Depends on for what. The easiest way to tell if it's the right stuff is that the nutrition label should show 0 carbs and when you open it up, it will crumble into curds that look just like dry cottage cheese. There are a lot of " Farmers Cheese " packages out there, but none of them are crumbly except the real " dry curd cottage cheese " . I bought a couple of " Farmer's Cheese " packages, but the cheese seemed more like mozzerrella or Jack, so I knew it wasn't the right stuff. I threw away more than one thing early in the diet. ;-) I discovered that the Gelson's " hoop cheese " was the right stuff simply by looking at the Friendship Dairies website (posted by another member) and looking at the package in Gelson's. I took it home, opened it up, and it crumbled ... it tasted like dry cottage cheese ... and I said " yeck, this must be it. " (I never did like cottage cheese.)
