Guest guest
I just found Knudsen's Just Juices in my local grocery store. It's the first time I've come across them since being on SCD. Some years ago Elaine approved of Knudsen's Just Juices line of commercial juices -- or at least many SCDers have mentioned they were OK. When I saw the Knudsen Just Juice bottles on my store shelves, I checked them out, considering I might give them a try. However, I found that the juices are now made from concentrate. This raises a red flag for me, so I thought I'd better mention it to everyone. Since I make my own juices anyway I decided not to contact Knudsen and find out how they make the concentrate or if they purchase it from another manufacturer. Concentrating foods tends to make them off-limits for those of us on SCD, even if the manufacturer didn't add anything to the fruit juices. So, be warned.... We always have to scrutinize labels, since production methods and formulas change without warning. Kim M. SCD 5 years

Kim, Actually, the Knudsen Just Juice line was made from concentrate when Elaine approved it. She checked the type of concentrate which they used, and concluded that it was acceptable. Their other juices, especially the mixed juices, were not. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
I have a letter from Knudsen, dated November 3, 2008, stating, " In response to your inquiry concerning R.W. Knudsen Organic Just Concord Grape Juice, at this time it contains as ingredients: juice from ripe, whole, organic grapes. " That's the best I could get from them. BTW, Whole Foods carries theie juices and is havig a sale right now. Marilyn, I'll forward whatever letters I get to you. Guest guest
Good to know that the Just Juice made from concentrate is OK. I wonder if the formula has changed in the past year or so, since Elaine approved it? Something to consider I guess. I'm still going to stay away from it, though, and continue making my own juices. I'm spoiled now, and like my juices better than the commercial stuff [big smile]. Kim M. >>>>>>>> Kim,Actually, the Knudsen Just Juice line was made from concentrate when Elaine approved it.
