Guest guest
Laurie, I had testing by Entero Lab. My blood tests and biopsy were normal but Entero Lab showed I had antibodies to gluten, moderate intestinal damage and 2 celiac genes. I don't know where to look to find opinions from other medical professionals but my GI doctor trusts Dr. Fine's testing. He actually went to medical school with him and believes his testing to be accurate, he has sent quite a few patients to him for diagnosing. I for one believe it is accurate because of how I feel now that I'm on the Gluten free diet and after I got diagnosed both my parents got tested from the lab and they both have it too and all their problems they ever had are gone since on the diet. In March Dr. Fine is presenting his 8 year research data and I think we will start seeing more doctors using his lab after the word gets out. in Kansas City Message: 21 Date: Thu, 16 Feb 2006 07:37:55 -0500 Subject: Enterolab again. I know we talk about Enterolab frequently, and I've sifted back through the files to remember what's been said here. But do you mind if I bring it up again? I appreciate opinions here and experiences. I'm impressed with the Enterolab website-to my feeble-in-science mind the research looks sound and Dr. Fine's credentials are clearly sound. But of course, we have to be savvy when we do things online. So let me see if I can form my question well: Where do I look besides our opinions for confirmation that the lab results are trustworthy? Are there reviews anywhere? If you're Doc/GI uses the lab, would you mind giving me his/her name/location? My own (new) GI dismisses stool testing as not sensitive. I'm doing this gluten challenge now for the biopsy-I do feel dreadful, but my symptoms have always been vague, only CD-ish. My only positive blood test was IGA. I've been eating gluten again since Monday. I feel like I'm poisoning myself-I had my first migraine in months 12 hours after the first bite. My bones hurt, I can't sleep and I'm almost narcoleptic I'm so sleepy...actually, those symptoms seem kind of clear don't they? I don't think they'd all be a nervous reaction to the gluten. (Long dramatic scream.) Thanks for your feedback. Laurie
Guest guest
Thanks . Now, as today goes on, I’m so nauseous…ick. I can’t continue this gluten challenge. My ds13 who is totally convinced that being gf is for him says “duh, mom.” He thought I was silly to do it in the first place. I’m looking forward to seeing Dr. Fine’s data also. Wish I could go to the conference. Laurie lbilyeu@... Guest guest
The dark side is right, fer sure. And why did your hubbie make rice crispie squares with poisonous cereal? Shame on him. Guest guest
Confirmation is a good thing, for sure. I just think that my reaction this week is more clear than any endo would be! I do NOT look forward to accidental glutenening now that I see what kind of reaction I have, though. Yes, next year, GF chocolates (from See’s) and flowers. Even if I have to buy them myself! I go back and forth between wanting some solid data (getting the endo) or just being relieved that I feel so much better (leave well enough alone). Every couple of months I start to dwell on it again, think maybe the gluten isn't really the problem, and get complacent in my diet. Then I get accidently glutened and come to my senses and forget all about needing any confirmation. Even my doctor referred to it as making a donation to Enterolab in my case. All the other numbers (iron is almost normal!!!!!) look so good now. If I had it to do over again, I'd definitely get it done before trying the elimination diet. But now, no way. There's no bathroom so beautiful that I'd want to have to live in it. Hope you're feeling better soon! And next V-day, maybe just chocolate and flowers?
