Guest guest
Debbie, you have not given the diet a chance for even 1 solid week, let alone the 2 weeks it takes for induction. You are gonna drive yourself crazy, probably not lose, and give up on the diet, thinking it doesnt' work for you. Why not just do the diet 'right' and give it a chance? This starving yourself will just lead to bingeing on something you probably shouldn't have. Get your book out and eat something that is listed on the induction foods pages [shakes are not]. You are giving your body mixed signals, and at best, any loss would be short-lived. You may actually do more harm to your metabolism, as starvation slows it down. Look at the turtle menus, and plan something for tomorrow. Post what you are eating to the list [including quantities] for some help. A better kick than starvation would be exercise. Get up and do something. If you are not an exerciser, you can do simple things that will 'kick' your metabolism up a notch; just up/down the stairs a few extra times or on once around the block, housework, stretching, isometrics, etc. HJ ----- Original Message ----- > > I'm scared to eat. Guest guest
Debbie, why do you have to lose 20 lbs. by August? Are you going to die if that particular amount isn't lost? That should be the only reasn you should be pressuring yourself like this! Life is for living now, and that goes for eating enjoyment! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

This is not good for your body and you will end up hurting yourself and gaining your weight back when you eat. Atkins when followed properly is a very good way to loose weight but if you are not willing to committ to it whole heartedly for 2 weeks then no it won't work but not eating is NOT the way to go. Guest guest
I'm scared to eat. I'm trying to give my body a "kick" to loose weight. I'm desperate. I have got to loose 20 by Aug., and I'm willing to not eat every other day or what ever I have to do. Debbie the really bad thing about doing this is when you don't allow your body food for fuel instead of burning off fat (which is what we all would love to happen by not eating) you body resorts to starvation mode. In starvation mode you body holds onto its fuel reserves (fat) and resorts to burning stuff you really don't want to go..muscle and other tissues. There are better ways to loose weight. I don't know why you Have to loose 20 by august but its not worth burning off muscle for it. Amber

WHAT IF...You cancel and later lose ins that will pay? What if you cancel and try another diet and fail and have to go thru the whole process again..and you wasted another year or more of your life? Now you did not mention you starting weight, but if you are like me..and not everyone is..you will have to wonder if you will live long enough to reschedule the surgery if yet another diet fails. For me I found peace thru prayer...I found a peace that yes this is right for me and I am willing to risk it all for a LIFE of HAPPINESS! If you want me to tell you what to do..face your fear and take this step to save your life and give you quality of life..BUT I cannot tell you, you must decide for yourself..and in your heart the answer is already there. Guest guest
Dear Shank419, I don't know you're weight loss/diet history but let me encourage you to give up smoking. Have you tried the patch...? Nicorette gum...? Smoking is a HUGE no-no for my surgeon because smoking and major surgery do not mix well, if you know what I mean. I've never struggled with that addiction so I don't want to come across as holier than thou. I know that it's a chemical addiction and one of the most difficult ones to break. Perhaps giving up cigarettes will be your first step in your WLS journey...? I know that I tried to diet for a couple of months before my surgery. I lost 9 pounds and gained everyone back. I'm grateful for this " tool " to help me regain my life back. I pray that you are able to make the decision that is best for you. Good luck and God bless you. Love, Trace in Va. Guest guest
Hello Scared - you didn't leave your name so don't know what to call you. It's totally normal to feel scared and have doubts. I didn't smoke, so can't really empathize with you there, but I do think you should stop all the way. It will help you recover better from your surgery. Remind yourself why you are ready to take these drastic measures, all the diets that have failed in the past, the awful way you feel as a MO person. And I also recommend prayer. It helped to calm me. Also, you might ask your surgeon to prescribe a small amount of anti-anxiety meds to take the edge off of your fears. Hang in there. It will be worth it in the long run.
