Guest guest
Hi- I am new to the listserve and newly diagnosed UC within the last 6 mos. I have read BTVC and as a busy professional and single mother of twin 9 year old boys, I am looking to make my life easier by finding SOME pre packaged foos to help with cooking. Muir Glen brand of organic canned whole tomatoes list their ingredients as: tomatoes, tomatoe juice, naturally derive citiric acid and calcium chloride. All the ingredients are legal except I am unable to find anything about calcium chloride. Can anyone tell me anything or help me. please? If there is another brand of canned tomatoes that you know of, I would greatly appreciate it. I am planning on calling Muir Glenn on Monday as well. Thanks. So she doesn't trust it. so the best thing to do if you are determined to try it is to test out a small amount on yourself to see whether you are okay with it. But, if you are brand new to SCD, or haven't yet started the diet yet, I would wait some time before attempting this brand. Guest guest
> > Mara, Thanks for your response. I have been on SCD on and off. Since my symptoms are mild, and I went into remission immediately, I think I was in denial and became cavalier and started to eat everything. of course I am now in a flare--also mild, but i realize I need to follow SCD but also somehow make it easier for me. The calcium chloride is a salt, and I think it is added to make foods taste salty without raising sodium content ( I have a strong chem and biochem background) I'm glad it's considered legal, but I will wait until this flare is under control before trying it, thanks again. Terry PS--So glad to have found this listserve- it is wonderful support.....
