Guest guest
I am a little mad at my rheumatologist these days. I have been trying for months to get an xray on my foot because I felt as though the pain I had was more mechanical in nature rather than RA - that some damage had been done that wasn't being helped by the drugs. Well, after about 10 days I finally got him on the phone and yes, there had been some significant damage to the cartilage around my foot. This despite upping my Humira to once a week. I start Remicade next month. I can't help but feel that the whole process of working one's way through different drugs which took, in my case, 3 years, has allowed this damage to occur. I'm hoping that Remicade will finally stop the progression of the disease. Although I was treated aggressively, it took them a year to put me on Enbrel, then Humira which I've been on for almost 2 years. Now I'm looking at some surgery to fuse my ankle. I know there is no looking back and I realize that had I not been on any DMARDs, I would probably be in a much worse way right now. Still.... My advice to anyone starting this process - go for the big guns right off the bat. gloria
