Guest guest
I have a somewhat different experience. I feel like I've been in remission for the last two months. The only spot that still bothers me somewhat is my neck. After reading this article, I put two and two together and...In December my ob-gyn put me on the NuvaRing. I wear it continuously so that I don't have to have a period. In other words, it fools my body into thinking that I am pregnant. I can't tell you how much better I feel since I've been on this. It's amazing. I was on the birth control pill before, but it was low dose and didn't seem to have the same effect.
Guest guest
Women who take the drug HRT and the contraceptive pill also have respite from their symptoms, but as soon as they stop taking them their condition flares up again. Omygoodness - I just read this and a light went on. I weaned myself off HRT before Christmas after about 20 years on it. Thought I was doing my body a favour. Well, since then, the arthritis in my hands has started to bother me for the first time (the fingers had been bending for some time but there was no pain, etc). Anyone else have any experience with this?
Guest guest
I stopped taking hormones about a year ago and have now developed Sjogren's Syndrome. Maybe it is not a total coincidence and the result of aging Annette > Women who take the drug HRT and the contraceptive pill also have > respite from their symptoms, but as soon as they stop taking them > their condition flares up again. > > Omygoodness - I just read this and a light went on. Guest guest
It was about a year after getting off HRT that this flare started. Guest guest
This is interesting, . I have been on the Pill for years, but next week I will be switching to the Birth Control Patch. I am in an Ulcerative Colitis flare and sometimes vomit, so my doctor thought I might not be absorbing the Pill properly. So we will see if the Patch is any different for my various flares! > I have a somewhat different experience. I feel like I've been in remission > for the last two months. Guest guest
beth, It is almost always better to use a transdermal or injection rather than oral intake for medications due to various factors. It is very difficult to determine how much of a drug is absorbed through the gut. I was taking oral doses of MTX and had the Yucks for a couple days after. I went to injections and know that I am absorbing the exact amount prescribed, plus I don't have the bad side effects. I wonder of HRT would work for a man??? I'll have to discuss this with my doc. Anything that will help with this terrible desease is fine with me!! Jay > > This is interesting, . I have been on the Pill for years, but next week I > will be switching to the Birth Control Patch. Guest guest
I stopped taking premarin when the warnings came out, a little over 18 months ago. Last winter was rough, but this past summer and now during the winter, I feel better than I have in about 15 years. No flares, little stiffness in the morning, and even my hips don't hurt nearly as much at night. I don't know what's affecting it, of course, but stopping the premarin is the only change I've made in medications. ----- Original Message ----- From: M. C. I developed a horrendus cough and irritable bowel syndrome and had to quit taking it. Three months later my RA symptoms started. Five months later, I could hardly walk and was diagnosed with RA. I am now on the hormone patch (twice a week instead of once a week change of patch) and I'm doing much better. Hormones definately play a part in my RA.
