If you ate a lot of modern processed foods before, your body is probably

going happily crazy right now for more nutrition and animal fats are

something a person can crave in the beginning. If you can find it you

can buy goose fat (or similar) or a high quality lard and " butter " your meat

with it before eating. Also you can go for more fatty meat and fish, like

lamb and salmon. Make bone broth as well

I remember when I switched all I wanted to do was eat fat all day long :-)

It passes eventually, enjoy it while it lasts!

Eat a lot of easy food. You're craving calories because it helps your body

heal. Use oil and coconut butter for calories. Also try butter and determine

yourself whether butter is a problem for you - just because it is for some

doesn't mean it is for you. I added cheese back in pretty quickly myself at the

beginning of my diet - which might also help you put in calories if you end up

being okay with cheese.

It's actually a good sign that you are hungry at the beginning of the diet - it

means that healing is going on.

Have you tried making apple sauce yet? That's yummy early on.

How about almond oil, ghee (clarified butter), avocado,

and fatty fish?

It was avocado that really helped me. Also, almond

oil goes down good for me. I personally think good fats

are extremely important.

A quick question for you. I'm in Stage 1 after several weeks and really craving calories like crazy. Right now I'm eating: hamburger, chicken, fish, carrots, zucchini, bananas, goat's milk yogurt and juice but I just don't feel like I'm getting enough calories. I think eggs were causing me problems so I'm not eating those right now.

I feel like eating a ton of butter, but from pecanbread I think it would probably slow down my healing.does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?Thanks for any help,Crohn's: Since July 2005SCD: Since Sept 2008Meds: Nothing yet
