Guest guest
I saw Dr Burton for the first time today. He did not prescribe Minocin as I expected. He wants me to take Metronidazone (Flagyl) for 6 weeks along with Allopurinol. I have to take 1000mg of the Metronidazone twice a day for just 2 days in a row, and repeat this weekly for 6 weeks and then I have to see him again. After the first week on Metronidazone, I have to add the Allopurinol 100mg 3x daily for just one week. The Metronidazone is supposed to make me flare. If it does, he told the that the treatment will probably work for me. This is the first time I've been to see any alternative doctor. I was surprised that he did not take my blood pressure, temp, weight, listen to my heart, or even look at my body at all. I had prior lab test results with me that he looked at, and other than looking at them, he just talked about the AB treatment theory. I don't think I am to comfortable with this and I am nervous about taking the meds because he never heard of Enbrel!! It's been on the market for 2 years!!! He couldn't tell me if ANY of my meds were ok to take with the AB's. I am supposed to discontinue everything. Maybe I should wait until the end of September and try Dr Whitman? I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has seen Dr Burton or has been on any of these meds. Thanks, a
Guest guest
Flagyl/metro. tinidazole is used in treating Lyme et alia infections. Can cause the flare from hell, plus nausea. If you take it, stay away from all kinds of alcohol, whether booze, ketchup, mustard, olives - fermented stuff? vinegar? > a wrote: > > I saw Dr Burton for the first time today. Guest guest
Hi a, >I saw Dr Burton for the first time today. He >did not prescribe Minocin as I expected. He wants me to take >Metronidazone (Flagyl) for 6 weeks along with Allopurinol. Flagyl is a specific antibiotic that gets rid of parasitic infections such a giardia and also helicobacter pylori, among others. He's getting rid of problems before starting the minocycline and this is quite reasonable. I've heard that Dr. Burton really knows his stuff so I'd trust his judgement. >This is the first time I've been to see any >alternative doctor. They don't look at the label of whatever problem a patient has. They look at what isn't functioning optimally within the body and fix that, then see what improvement comes about. They believe that " death begins in the colon " and the more I'm involved with all this, the more I believe they're right. >I don't think I am to comfortable with this and I am nervous >about taking the meds because he never heard of Enbrel!! It's >been on the market for 2 years!!! An alternative doctor wouldn't be interested in Enbrel, except to tell you not to take it. Enbrel lends itself to increased gut permeability so may contribute to the problem. Worth remembering that these doctors aren't naturopaths - they're qualified doctors who believe that it's better to fix the problem at its source, rather than to mask it with drugs. Personally, I'd hang in there with Dr. Burton and also phone Dr. Whitman to see what he has to say. Chris.
