Guest guest
The stevia powder is by NuNaturals and is called " White Stevia " pure extract. It costs 16.99 for a supplement sized bottle but it will last forever since you use 1/32 of a teaspoon for the equivalent of a teaspoon of sugar. It is ultra sweet so a little goes a long way. And it does taste good!
Guest guest
The real rea$on $tevia is not approved i$ becau$e it compete$ with Nutra$weet and $ucralo$e. FDA always protect$ their client$: Food Proce$$or$ and Pharmaceutical Companie$ Sugar was never tested for safety either. Nor were carrots, milk or wheat. Foods under the law are always recognized as safe until proven otherwise. (Pure Food and Drug Act of 1934) Stevia is classified as a dietary supplement (food). The montra from the enemies of supplements is that they are not regulated. This is a damned lie. Supplements are regulated as foods. It sure as heck is safer than either NutraSweet or Sucralose. 75% of all calls to Poison Control Centers involve NutraSweet.
Guest guest
What I don't understand is why anyone still uses sugar substitutes?? We are using so little sugar, hopefully, that we can just put a tsp of sugar for 15 friggin' calories into coffee. Why use ANY artificial chemicals? We're supposed to be getting out of the diet mentality and eating healthy foods. Guest guest
AMEN, Sandy! I've often wondered the same thing - and happily use sugar when it's warranted. I understand for those who have sugar issues with regards to diabetes, but for the rest of us - why not enjoy it. The taste is so much better! BTW - Huge NSV for me this week - I flew from Dallas to Austin for work on Tuesday and back yesterday and for the first time in my adult life, I was able to fly without having to ask for that extender on either flight! -- Liz Grigorian http://lap-band.blogspot.com/ 370/291/
Guest guest
Congrats, Liz. I flew from CA to OR in Nov and did not have to use it. I only had to use it for a year - and that's when I decided it was time to lose weight. I got tired of asking people next to me if I could raise the arm!! Now I fit nice with room to spare! Guest guest
You know, I think I'm changing my mind here! B's post made me think...one tsp of sugar will not hurt anyone. But I have oatmeal with raisins almost every morning, and put 2 tsp of " Sugar Twin " calorie-free brown sugar on it. if i used real brown sugar at 17 cal per tsp. it would be 34 extra cal a day. that is 3.5 # a year extra. That all adds up so we might choose to avoid that. I stand corrected ! (Thanks, > > AMEN, Sandy! Guest guest
Sandy, you can have the best of both worlds. Use the real brown sugar and just park your car further from the store and and get a little bit of an extra walk to burn of that 34 calories. It's not like you are eating an extra Snickers bar everyday or something! a in KC Sandy Said: You know, I think I'm changing my mind here!
