Kim, I've never had yogurt with anything but custom probiotics since I started scd so I don't know the taste of any other. But others that have had my yogurt say that it tastes better to them then yogurtmet's. Yes the bottle they send it in is big compared to the amount of starter. For a half gallon of yogurt, did you use only half a spoonful that comes with the bottle? About die-off, the only thing you cando is try and cut back and work your way up again and then you'll know for sure. Katy

Katy,

I used four quarts and used about 3/4ths of the spoon. The bottle

says 1/2 spoon for 2-4 quarts so I didn't think the extra 1/4 was a

bad thing to do. I guess I'll just try 1/2 the spoon next time and

see how it turns out. It just seems like so little starter to use.
