Guest guest
Yes. Turkey Bacon is OK. Unfortunately, Arby's doesn't use turkey bacon. Guest guest
We all need to remember that not all Gluten Free Groups consist of medical professionals, dieticians, and specialists in the Celiac or Gastrointerology. In fact most don't even have these as regular members unless they too have Celiac Disease or a family member with it. The e-groups are generally started by people who have Celiac Disease or loved ones with it and want to share their information and findings as they go as well as build a support system to help others emotionally and by sharing recipes, ideas, tips, etc. That being said... even when you go to a doctor you are not guaranteed an accurate diagnosis or cure for your ailment or symptoms. If you can't trust them 100% then one can hardly expect to find a foolproof, 100% guarantee glutenfree e-list. It takes constant research and trial and error to find what is safe and one's own commitment to verifying how recent information is and sharing those findings. I don't think there is a group that is completely 100% up-to-date on every aspect of celiac research, gluten free food lists, etc. But if anyone finds one that will guarantee their site to that effect---PLEASE Let us all know!! Our only guarantee to all safe foods- are those purchsed on a gluten free site or at a gluten free store stating they are prepared and packaged in a gluten free facility and that we prepare ourself in our gluten free kitchen. Melonie has done an awesome job in putting together this group and sharing all her info and trying to keep filesup-dated and organized including info that others have shared as well. She started out of a personal need and generously puts her time into helping others and giving us all a forum for sharing. She doesn't get paid to do it and it is very time consuming and she has a small children and a husband and life outside the list. When I was first diagnosed, I found it to be a very good starting place and it still is a very valuable resource each and every day. :-) in VA Re: Files and Stuff/Mimi I had higher expectations. A gluten free group for celiacs, providing a safe venue to find safe foods. A starting place for a newly DX'd to safely venture out..........even a guide should be safe :-)
Guest guest
Thanks .... I'm still bummed that blame is being assigned to one of the lists for something. Oh well, to each his/her own, I suppose. I do appreciate the kind words that have been said about our group over the last few days. I am still catching up on posts from several days and am a bit behind the curve here.... Guest guest
Don't be bummed, Melonie! We all look forward to the information we find on this board and we all appreciate all of the hard work you do. This was an overreaction and she was looking for someone else (other than herself, of course) to blame! I think that so often people jump to the conclusion that it HAD to be one thing that made them sick and then disregard the infinite other possibilities, including their own lack of attention. Guest guest
{{{{{Melonie}}}} Don't feel bummed!! You have started a great forum and have put tons of time and effort into it. There are two old addages that fit well here... "You can't please everyone" (so there will be critics no matter what you do and how you do it) and "If you can't say anything nice, Don't say anything at all" (For those with complaints at least Offer your 'suggestions' and to help out and make improvements you'd like to see.) I love this group and I have gotten so much and hope that I've contributed at least half as much in ways of suggestions, recipes, and support!! :-) in VA Re: Files and Stuff/Mimi> > > > > I had higher expectations. Guest guest
I'm a little behind right now too, but I wanted to chime in before I get caught up and say that I think this group is a godsend. It's a fabulously diverse community of people who are sharing experiences to help and support others. Without you, it wouldn't be possible and I thank you! The first lesson for those of us new to this should be that there are no shortcuts and no master list, just Constant Vigilence!
