Val, I had trouble with my post lining up my daughter's labs from Aug. and her present labs. I re-did the posting but I don't think you saw them. Her ferritin and B-12 are bette. Her meds changed from August but she is still showing some oddities. Can you please look at the post below now that I changed the format and let me know what you think is going on. So sorry for the confusion.

Hi Val,I wanted to post my daughter's new labs and see if you can tell me what she needs to do and why some of her levels are worse than her previous labs. She did change meds and I will explain the changes below.

August 19, 2009--She was taking 120 New Armour

TSH 1.4(same ranges as new labs) FT3 3.4

FT4 .079

RT3 274

Ferritin 42

B-12 233

New LabsTSH 4.95 (0.450-4.50)

FT3 3.1 (2.3-4.2) FT4 .86 (.61-1.79)

RT3 260 (90-350)

TPO ab 42 (0-34)Ferritin 76 (10-291)Fe now B-12 532 (211-911)B-12 now

She is currently taking 37.5 Liothyronine with 45 Old Armour. What is TPO and why would that be high?

The Dr. wanted to put her on a combo of Liothyronine and Levoxyl but she goes crazy with anxiety on Levoxyl so I told her to just take the Liothyronine and continue with her Armour justto start with 45 for now and see how she does. Between the two of us we had some Old armour. Why are her labs so weird now? Looks like she was better off on the Armour. I sure appreciate your thoughts on this one. Thanks,

TSH 4.95 (0.450-4.50)

FT3 3.1 (2.3-4.2)

TPO ab 42 (0-34)

Ferritin 76 (10-291)Fe now

B-12 532 (211-911)B-12 now

Her FT3 went doiwn a bit and her RT3 went UP a bit, which si normal

progression of RT3. ANY T4 evn a lesser amount of it continues the

problem. Because she has more RT3 her TSH went up indicating she is MORE

HYPO. OK her ferritin did improve but the Rt3 is already in place making

more oif itself, It si SELF propagating once it gets to ohigh., Th ehigh

TPO just indicates she has Hashi's and it is active or not supressed and

it went up as her TSH (thyroid STIMULATING hormone) went up. Any time

the htyroid is stimulated antibodies can flare higher. This is why a

supressed TSH is best for Hashi folks.

Ok Val, I just talked to my daugher at length about her meds. Come to find out she had not been taking her meds correclyt. She is young and hard headed...not about to listen to Mom and since she is away I cannot monitor her. She has not been taking her T3 faithfully, ONLY the armour. On the T3, she said that she normally takes 12.5 in the am and 12.5 in the pm and SOMETIMES her 12.5 mid-day dose.. So I guess my best situation is to have her try to be totally faithful and re-test in a few weeks?? I am also going to have her increase her T3 to 50mcg?? Does this sound alright?

Since she HAS been taking the Armour faithfully, how many weeks would she have to wait in order to re-test everything?

She will also run out of her Armour in about 5-6 weeks. What do you suggest as far as a replacement? Could she take a low dose of Levoxyl that is equivalent to the Armour dose or am I asking for more problems? I'll do whatever you suggest.

Thanks,
