Guest guest
So, if HC has a MUCH shorter 1/2 life than thyroid hormones (hours. vs days, per Peatfield, etc.), why is it that you just have to be off thyroid replacement the day of a test and HC two weeks? Obv, there is a piece I'm missing!! > > Absolutely! > > -- > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ >

For adrenal tests to see the state of your own production you need the feedback loop to have restored to normal and it takes that couple of weeks for it to stabilise. If you wanted to come off thyroid hormone to test your own thyroid you would have to taper down and then be off it for at least 6 weeks. The thyroid test " while on the hormone " does reflect the levels in the body, you want the trough and not the peak though hence the " not on the day of the test " recommendation.. The Adrenal saliva test gets screwed up while on the hormone aparently and temperature stability is a better marker of being on enough. I believe the adrenal blood tests are less disturbed but they are less well thought of in the first place. Nick
