I am by no means an expert (not yet, anyway ;-). But, I am studying

Nutrition and I have also been doing my own personal research as someone with

auto-immune disorders, yeast overgrowth and excessive weight trying to find

the right diet. The complexities and contradictions can be overwhelming, to

say the least!! I put together a list for myself that I thought I would

share with all of you. Please keep in mind, this is MY personal list and is

not meant to represent what anyone else should or should not do (and some

people may even disagree with some of it) but I wanted to share it anyway in

case anyone finds it helpful.

Foods To Avoid

Common Allergens - Wheat, Corn, Soy (Soybeans, Tofu, Tempeh, Soy Milk), Eggs,

Milk, Chocolate, Cheese, Citrus Fruits, Tomatoes, Peanuts, Beef, Caffeine

Yeast Feeders - Sugar, Honey, Fruit Juices, Refined Flours, Breads w/yeast,

Baked Goods, Vinegar, Pickled Vegetables, Fermented Foods, Apple Cider,

Cheese, Mushrooms, Soy Sauce, Cashews, Pecans, Tuna Fish (Mercury content)

Auto-Immune - Nightshades: Potatoes, Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant

High-Glycemic (increases insulin resistance which has been linked not only to

weight gain and diabetes, but also to auto-immune disorders):

Baked Goods - Cake, Pastry, Pizza, Muffins, Croissants, Donuts, Waffles

Beverages - Soft Drinks (Colas), Kool-Aid, Fruit Juices

Breads - White Bread, Wheat Bread, Buns, Bagels, Rolls

Cereal - ALL except Rice Bran, Kellogg’s All-Bran, Special K

Grains - Couscous, Mahatma Rice, White Rice, Instant Rice, Taco Shells,

Cornmeal, Millet, Tapioca, Cream of Wheat

Cookies & Crackers - ALL

Dairy - Ice Cream

Fruits - Bananas, Mangos, Raisins, Pineapple, Watermelon, Dates

Legumes - Canned Beans, Fava Beans

Pasta - Durum Spaghetti, Macaroni, Instant Noodles, Gnocchi, Rice Pasta

Vegetables - Potatoes, Carrots, Corn, Pumpkin, Parsnips, Rutabaga

Snacks - Potato Chips, Popcorn, Rice Cakes, Pretzels, Candy, Gum

Sugars - Lactose, Honey, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Glucose, Maltodextrin

Foods Okay To Eat

Bread - Pumpernickel, Whole Grain, Sprouted Bread, Bürgen Bread, Oat Bran

Cereal - Rice Bran, Kellogg’s All Bran, Special K

Grains - Barley, Bulgur, Buckwheat, Parboiled Long-Grain Rice, Brown Rice,

Quinoa, Protein-Enriched (not Durum) Spaghetti

Legumes - (dry, not canned) - Yellow Split Peas, Lentils, Kidney Beans, Pinto

Beans, Lima Beans (baby frozen), Chick Peas (Garbanzo Beans)

Vegetables - Broccoli, Cauliflower, Squash, Spinach, Cabbage, Cucumber,

Celery, Zucchini, Beets, Artichokes, Brussel Sprouts, Asparagus, Greens

Sprouts - Aduki, Alfalfa (fresh only), Buckwheat, Garbanzo, Lentil, Mung

Sea Vegetables - Arame, Dulse, Hijiki, Kombu, Nori, Wakame, Kelp

Fruits - Apples, Grapefruit, Cherries, Lemons

Nuts & Seeds - Almonds, Walnuts, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds

Milk Substitutes - Almond Milk, Rice Milk

Dairy - Yogurt, Eggs (if not allergic)

Fish - Halibut, Swordfish, Flounder, Cod

Meat - Chicken (preferably Free-Range)
