If all your lab values are ok..then why zap it..the only thing that would do is make your lab values go away so they have something else to treat. Do you have copys of your labs? And can you post them including ranges? Grave's is an autoimmune disorder and those who have an autoimmune disorder or more suspectable to other disorders? Have you been tested for anemia's, diabetes etc? Kats3boys

Guest guest
I am new to the group and trying to understand about RT3. I am hypothyroid and my FT3 and FT4 levels are at the bottom of the lab values. I have never had my ferritin or RT3 tested. From what I am reading, if you have a RT3 problem, your FT3 and FT4 are in the normal or high range. Did I get that right? So if my FT3, FT4 levels are extremely low, is RT3 an issue for me? I have been taking nature throid until I couldn't get it anymore and now am on compounded armour 1 grain. I can't go up in dose without palpitations and my heart rate goes into the 90's. I have tried 5 mg cytomel and get the same issue with my heart rate. I have also tried 5 mg slow release T3 and still had my heart race during the day and even late into the evening. So I stopped the cytomel all together. I am hoping this group can help me figure things out so I can tell my doctor what to test for. Thanks, Kim

Hello and welcome This sounds like low ferritin or low cortisol. Graph your average temperatures for a few days as per the Dr Rind link on this page http://thyroid-rt3.com/temperat.htm If your adrenals are low those temperatures will be unstable. The next step is to get a ferritin test If it's not between 70 and 90 then that's a possible reason for the effects you are describing, Nick
Guest guest
I do have low cortisol and am on hydrocortisone 5 mg three times a day. The doctor just added pregnenolone to help too. I can ask for my ferritin to be tested this week. I am getting myers cocktail and colchicine IV weekly to help with the fatigue and pain in my muscles and joints. I have done a spreadsheet with my temps and they are always 96.1 - 97.1. Kim
Guest guest
Kim you shoul dget an electrolyte panel to check for low potasisum. I had such horrid muscle pain that barely responded to anything that is cured by high dose potassium. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
I am on hcg for weight loss and must take potassium .99 mg 1-3 times a day as needed. I can mention the test to my doctor. I have low DHEA which can also cause muscle and joint pain. I am supplementing that with a cream everyday. It appears that there are a few things that are going on with me that can cause the muscle and joint pain. The doctor is trying to bring my adrenals back up and he believes that once that happens, the thyroid will start to work better. Kim
Guest guest
I just yesterday finished reading Geneen Roth's Breaking Free from Compulsive Eating and it was really, really helpful...lots of practical suggestions and ideas.... This is my first post. I have been overweight all of my life, except for the period when I smoked. Then I got a spot on my lung, so I went back to eating instead of smoking. I bought Geneen Roth's book " Breaking Free from Emotional Eating " in 1998, I read it but was not able to quit eating when full, I may have tried briefly but the program did not last long. I recently bought her Women, God & Food. I read it but still did not know how to put anything in practice. In the meantime dozen of diets, meal replacement programs, nothing is permanent. In the meantime my husband died Sept. 4 of last year, 2009. The last year of his life He had cancer, and I gained 24#. I now weigh 202#. I was searching the web when I ran into IE. So I joined this group. Last night while going through some CD's I found four CD's I must have bought some years ago. I had never listened to them. They are Geneen's breaking Free From Emotional Eating workshop. I listened to the first one. I was really impressed. I understood the program for the first time. Track 14 was wonderful, she talks about our need to be kissed & huged, held close. Basically we substitute food for closeness. Anyway today is a new day, I have been thinking all day of different ways I can feel loved. One way is to have close friends and do things I enjoy. Really try to love myself. I did not really understand what that meant before. Now I know better how to treat myself with kindness. Will post more as I try to put some of these concepts in practice. -- Sue on FritzCheck out my blogs at: http://alifeofbooks.blogspot.com/http://suesresearch.blogspot.com http://suesretirementmusings.blogspot.com/Check out my books on Goodreads: <
