Guest guest
I have read everything at thyroid-rt3.com. I've had CFS and major cold intolerance for 25 years. I've always been told my thyroid was fine because my labs were fine. Then I read STTM. Yesterday I got my labs. Here they are: TSH 1.270 (0.450-4.500) uIU/mL T3, free, serum 2.1 (2.0-4.4) pg/mL RT3 434 ( 90-350) pg/mL T4, free (direct) 1.32 (0.82-1.77) ng/dL DHEA-sulfate 193 (13-130) ug/dL ferritin, serum 15 (10-291) ng/mL B12 926 (211-911) pg/mL Cortisol was also out of whack but I don't have the numbers. My doc says to start with Cortef 5mg twice a day, and iron. Do this for a week then start SR T3, 5 mcg twice a day for 4-5 days, increase to 3 a day for 4-5 days, then 4 a day. He didn't give me a dosing schedule, just said to take it twice a day. So when I'm at 3 a day, it's supposed to be two tabs in one dose, then one tab later in the day. When I'm at 4 tabs, the dose is two tabs twice a day. Today I read at thyroid-rt3 that SR isn't necessary and may pose problems. The pharmacy has received the prescription. Do I call the doc's office and ask him to rewrite, i.e. "I read on the internet that SR T3 can be a problem" ? This whole RT3 thing caught me by surprise--I was completely prepared with info to discuss with him except for that. Other than that, does everything else seem right? Thanks. I'll be reading at the group to learn as much as I can, and hopefully not be a pest with questions. Peggy
