Guest guest
Hi Beth I think t3 uptake is not the same as total t3 which is the one you need. Sky To: RT3 Group <RT3_T3 >Sent: Tue, 12 January, 2010 1:03:21 PMSubject: New Labs Hi all, I am 6 weeks into T3 only with SRT3. Overall, feeling better and temps slowly improving. Got my new labs today, but they didn't give Free T3, only T3 Uptake. I know there is a different ratio if you don't have FT3 reading to calculate a ratio where it needs to be above 10. Is that using the T3 Uptake? Could someone give me some help with this? My labs 6 weeks ago were: FT3: 325 (230-420) pg/dL T3 Uptake: 32..5 (27.8-40.7) RT3: 32 (11-32) ng/dL FT3/RT3 ratio: 10.15 indicating reverse t3 problem because not above 20. My latest labs are: T3 Uptake: 28.5 (27.8 - 40.7) RT3: 19 (11-32) ng/dL Is this a ratio of T3/RT3 of 1..5? Looks like RT3 has improved, but ratio (if I did it correctly using T3 Uptake) needs to be above 10 to resolve RT3 dominance. Is that right? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Beth S. Guest guest
" T3 Resin Uptake or Thyroid Uptake. This is a test that confuses doctors, nurses, and patients. First, this is not a thyroid test, but a test on the proteins that carry thyroid around in your blood stream. Not only that, a high test number may indicate a low level of the protein! Guest guest
Val, Is there anything that can be gleaned from these latest labs to let me know how things are progressing? Since my RT3 decreased from 34 to 19, isn't that a good sign? Thanks, Beth To: RT3_T3 Sent: Tue, January 12, 2010 4:09:32 AMSubject: Re: New Labs "T3 Resin Uptake or Thyroid Uptake. Guest guest
Val, Thanks for the clarification about what T3 Uptake means. I am copying my new labs below. Is there anything that can be gleaned from these latest labs to let me know how things are progressing even though the lab failed to report the FT3? Guest guest
Nick is on a business trip so he will be on when he can to answer questions. If you can't tolerate T3, my first suggestion would be to have your adrenals tested with a 24 hour saliva test (4 collections during a 24 hour period) because if your adrenals aren't working properly then you can't tolerate the T3. Also your ferritin needs to be 70-90 for your body to use T3, so you need to get yours to increase still and then re-try the T3 again.
