Guest guest
Hi The 65mg of elemental iron is the iron that is able to be absorbed out of the 325mg. My family takes ferrous fumerate and that contains 100mg of elemental iron out of 310mg. We do not take it with food. This is what Janie says in the files section As far as iron supplements, they all work and are all potential choices. Ferrous Sulfate is usually the cheapest--just be sure you are taking a good Vit. E with it since it is known to deplete it. And you may need magnesium to soften your stools. And take it with food.Ferrous Gluconate may cause fewer symptoms and is milder on stomach. Ferrous Fumerate is often prescribed by docs as it, too, has fewer side effects, absorbs well, and is easier on the stomach. So if your ferritin is fine go ahead and keep taking ferrous sulphate. But it is the hardest for the body to absorb and hard on the stomach. Sky To: RT3_T3 Sent: Tue, 12 January, 2010 8:57:06 AMSubject: More question on iron supplements. If the supplement says "65mg of elemental iron which say it's equivalent to 325mg ferrous sulphate"what does 65 mean, and what does 325mg mean? Which is it? Is the sulphate bad to take. I'm taking it now, but most of the time with food because of stomach issues. It doesn't seem to bother me at all. See what's on at the movies in your area. Find out now. Guest guest
Ty Sky I take a liquid multi with vitamin E and I take a lot of magnesium malate, calcium, D, and host of others, so I think I'm good. It doesn't bother my stomach that much, but I need a little food prior to taking it. I wanted to know if it was a bad type and not as absorbable in that form, but I guess I'm okay. > > Hi > > The 65mg of elemental iron is the iron that is able to be absorbed out of the 325mg.  My family  takes ferrous fumerate and that contains 100mg of elemental iron out of 310mg.
