We were on a skiing holiday in Kitzbühel, Austria over Christmas. On Christmas Day, he took me out onto the balcony of our room (lovely snowy, picturesque view - still remember it) and got down on his knee and proposed. No ring, mind you - still haven't got one now ! And we haven't bothered to actually get married yet. :-) -- Clare Lusher. SAHM to Ruairí (24.10.99). Guest guest
Rob asked me to marry him when we were just 18 and had been going out together just a few weeks. I said " ask me again in 5 years time " , and he did... Eventually got married 7 years later. I don't remember it quite that way, but there's no convincing him. His proposal went something along the lines of " Oh it's Valentine's Day tomorrow and I'm not going to be tacky and ask you to marry me. " Two days later, he suggested we meet for lunch outside Cornells (best jewellers in town) and I was supposed to work out what that all meant! Guest guest
Met DH on a chat list (IRC #London) on a Saturday. (September 1997) I turned up at his flat the following day. (Sunday) unannounced We arranged to meet up again the following Friday for the weekend. (ensuing phone calls and e-mails and chat of the next 4 days) On that Friday there was much discussion about marriage I guess he popped the question on the Saturday first (I was dumb founded) He kept asking and asking. I " phoned a friend " (so that is where Tarrent got the idea!) she was dumb founded! He kept asking and asking, so I said if you ask again I'll say NO I took him to my church on the Sunday (the preaching was about taking a step of faith ( and walking on water)) We went to Chartwell and got engaged under a tree in the gardens. We went to Hatten Gardens for an engagement ring and our wedding bands on the following Thursday. Married the Following February (1998) Pregnant on honeymoon so had baby for Christmas (1998) who was Baptised on out 1st wedding anniversary. Gosh I am exhausted just writing it down PS And moved house a year last July!

Guest guest
What romantic stories some of you have of Proposals! When visiting my *now* DH for a weekend in France, he coolly told me that he needed a wife and that if nobody had proposed to him before midnight, he would make do with me (if I was willing - which I was)! Obviously, and lucky for me, he found no-one else! We got married one year later and will celebrate our second anniversary in February! Not very romantic, but it was original, I guess! Sue V. Guest guest
> He said are you still against marriage then? I said not exactly. He said shall we do it then? I said OK. Simple as that. We didn't tell anybody except my best friend.Booked a table at the restaurant opposite the registry office. Told the parents they were all invited to a meal and we were paying. Mine turned up - his missed the bus and were late. We got married and went to restaurant. His parents arrived told them what we'd done and his mum burst into tears. One incredibly large g & t later and everybody's smiles again. Not the most romantic, but it was funny. .
