Kathy, I sent you a message offline.  Hopefully we can talk. P from CA.

I have been on T3 only (cytomel) for almost three years. It is not hard to manage it at all when you realize how good you feel on it you never want to have that feeling go away.LIke another forum responder, I take 25mcgs in 4 evenly spaced doses totalling 100mcgs per day.

I have Hashimotos, tried Armour and was up to 2.5 grains when very high RT3 was discovered by Holtorf Medical Group in Torrance, California. My spouse is on Armour, has no RT3 issues, and I have thought about trying Armour again as it's way cheaper than Cytomel but I have not ever ventured back as I'm scared of going back to how I felt before Cytomel.

I guess it comes down to what you are more afraid of and we always fear the unknown. I'm more afraid of feeling as sick as I did before Cytomel. .I don't have any fears about Cytomel; I have fears of being without it and being forced back to a drug that diminishes my quality of life.

Hope this helps you to decide what to do. . .Hope it works for you.

>> So I apparently have this RT3 problem. My RT3 is 38 and my fT3 is 3.2. I'm still honestly not convinced of the math in calculating the ratio and can't find any resources to back up what I'm reading here about the ratio but that is pointless. My RT3 is 38 with a lab range of 11-32 so it is too high.

> > The problem is after reading Nick's pages I'm terrified to go on Cytomel. My heart already pounds at the slightest activity or stress and flutters mildly for a few seconds at a time when I'm sitting doing nothing more than reading a book. I don't know if I can reliably dose several times a day and monitor my vitals to stay on top of it without going hyper. Also, my lifestyle does not lend itself well to monitoring vitals. To just sit for 10 or more minutes to get a resting heart rate is a problem as I am up and around doing things at work most of the day and just typing this message my heart rate goes from resting at 70-80-ish to more like 110-ish.

I had heart flutters for years after being diagnosed as hypo. Two things stopped all this - iodine, which calmed things down, but not completely - and T3. I thought I might have the return of all those heart flutters on T3 but they seem to have gone completely.I also thought that I would have problems sleeping but infact I sleep much deeper than before. On the basis of many alarmist texts that I had read about T3 I thought I must be the only person in the world who was tranquilised by T3.

In the past few days I have read something on one of the forums I belong to (sorry can't remember which one) about T3 being used after heart surgery to steady the heart.

T4 did nothing for my heart flutters. I have had only one since I started T3 in October 2009. I had to stop taking T3 for two weeks in November because I ran out of tablets. It was like being thrown out of paradise!

Mexican Cynomel is good and cheap at $49 for 300 tablets. Postage to

the UK is only about $10 so USA may be cheaper.

If you need a source e-mail me direct.
