Guest guest
Hi everyone, here's a question. I am having what it seems a mild flare. My doctor prescribed antibiotics (xifaxan). I have been taking Humira since April 2008 and Colazal since July 2007. The flare started in spite of these medicines. I have been on and off the diet since March 2008. I want to go back to it, but I wonder of the antibiotics will prevent the diet from actually working. What do you think? The antibiotics did help, but not much. How's the diet affected by antibiotics? My doctor might try to prescribe some other medicines, but I am very hesitant about these alternatives; so I just want to do the diet. Any suggestions? Thanks. Guest guest
I started the diet @ 75% 60 days ago, in the same period of time I was on two differet regemins of antibiotics, one for H-pylori, (prevacid, amoxicillion, and Biaxon) and one for a UTI(Cipro). I was seeing improvement daily. I waitied till I was done with the med.'s to do the intro diet, completed the intro diet last week and here I am, 4 days of being symtom free. I am not sure why this has worked so fast for me, or if this is simply a result of die-off, but I am not complaining. PS. I also started taking xanax for anxiety Dianna UC since May 2006 1 daily cortenama > > Hi everyone, > > here's a question. I am having what it seems a mild flare. Guest guest
,No, the antibiotics will not prevent the diet from working. The antibiotics will kill off all the bacteria, good and bad in the gut though so you should try to replace the good bacteria. Do you tolerate yogurt, if not, then acidophilus supplements? The probiotics, yogurt or supplement, should be taken at least 3 hours (I believe) away from the antibiotic. My suggestion is restart the diet, doing the intro again and if you tolerate them, take some probiotics to replace the bacteria that the antibiotic is killing. You can get SCD legal probiotics from Lucy's Kitchen http://www.lucyskitchenshop.com/acidophilus.html orhttp://www.giprohealth.com/scdophilus-1.aspx (this one is dairy free) or http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/Best wishes,Kim H.husband, , CD 1999SCD 2002 Hi everyone, here's a question. Guest guest
, You're very welcome and just to be clear, you meant antibiotics right? You need to seperate the probiotics and antibiotics. If you are taking a probiotic supplement and eating yogurt, you don't have to seperate those. Take care, Kim H. Kim,thank you. That actually makes a lot of sense. I have been taking theyogurt and the probiotics at the same time. I'll try to separate them. Best, alex. Recent Activity 18 New MembersVisit Your Group Meditation and Lovingkindness A Yahoo!
