Guest guest
Hi Gitte, This is from Elaine's website, ------ What happens if I leave it fermenting for too long?Up to 29 hours is fine, but after 30 hours, it starts to kill the good bacteria. After 36 hours, it will not last as long in the refrigerator. ------ I would think it is still ok but it probably won't have very many, if any good bacteria left. You could use it in cooking so that it doesn't go to waste but as far as eating it for the probiotic benefit, probably not. Sorry... Take care, Kim H. husband, , CD 1999 SCD 2002 Yesterday I forgot the yogurt in my Yogurmet machine. When I remembered, it had been sitting there for almost 42 hours. I suppose the first 4 hours is just getting up to the right temperature, but still: Is it any good after 38 hours?I would hate to toss a whole batch, since it's already difficult keeping up the production speed, but it it's not working anymore..... ..Any suggestions, please?GitteDenmarkCD 30y

Guest guest
Make yourself a cheesecake...it'll make you feel better ;-) Kim http://www.scdrecipe.com/recipes-cake/new-york-style-cheesecake/?tid=1 & oid=317 & sid=c9b9f44e513842d70a8cf2bcfb548d80 (the recipe doesn't say but I drip the yogurt first) or Creamy Cheeseless CheesecakePreheat oven to 350 degrees.4 large eggs1 cup honey2 1/2 cups drained (at least 8 hours) yogurt1 tablespoon butter3 teaspoons vanilla extract1/4 teaspoon saltIn a food processor mix all ingredients together untilthey are well combined. (Stop half way through towipe down the sides of the container with a spatula.)Pour mixture into a small cake pan. A spring form pan would probably be best if you aremaking it with a crust. Place this pan inside alarger pan and pour an inch and a half of water in the larger pan. Place the pans in the oven and bake for 35 minutes.Remove from oven and cool. Sorry to hear. Happy to know. Thanks Kim :-) Recent Activity 18 New MembersVisit Your Group Yahoo! Health Memory Loss Are you at risk for Alzheimers? Meditation and Lovingkindness A Yahoo! Group to share and learn. Guest guest
Great idea Kim! It's just that I tried the cheesecake once before and wasn't that excited about it. But perhaps I didn't do it right. Perhaps I should give it another try...... Or perhaps I could make ice cream? You also know some good recipies for that? Any suggestions will be appreciated (I'm not that advanced yet, so it's a bit difficult to find good treats). Thanks! Guest guest
Gitte,I've never made ice cream from yogurt. I always use a dairy free recipe that uses egg whites. Not because we need to be dairy free, we just like it better. We're not huge yogurt fans. So I can't help you out with an ice cream recipe that uses yogurt. My favorite cheesecake recipe is the link I gave earlier to SCDrecipe.com.There are quite a few ice cream recipes there too but I can't vouch for how good any of them are. There is also a recipe at http://uclbs.org/recipes/desserts/ It's Sue's Ice Cream. I've never tried it either but she is a good SCD cook. I have tried a lot of her other recipes and they're all very good. I'd probably go with that one if I were you.Best wishes,Kim H.To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2008 12:22:08 PMSubject: Re: Forgot yogurt - still good? Great idea Kim!
