Guest guest
It's great to be lowERing the pred! I'm feeling good at 7.5 and hope to get off it in the next month or two. I hadn't heard the moon face goes away...I hope it does..I hate it! Grrrrrrrr. Good luck and I hope you can keep going lower without any flares! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maggie http://www.4HockeyFans.com http://www.4FloridaHockey.com -----Original Message-----From: Jenni [mailto:chaospearl@...]Sent: Monday, February 28, 2005 4:00 PMRheumatoid Arthritis Subject: Ha ha ha ha! And HA! Hi everyone, I just wanted to tell everyone that as of today I've been on 10mg of prednisone for a full month and I can still walk and dress myself. I know some of you are thinking "oh my GOD" but I've been between 20 and 15mg for ten years now, and I've had three joint replacement surgeries that were a direct result of prednisone wreaking havoc on my bones. I've never managed 10mg for more than a few days without spiralling into a major flare. I've heard the side effects (including the fat moonface) start to fade once you hit 7 or 6mg... I've bought myself a gorgeous $50 gold lame halter top that I won't allow myself to wear until sometime next summer or early autumn when my face doesn't have five chins anymore. 5mg or bust! Guest guest
Dear , Well done!!!! I was on 50mg and over a long period of time (about 1.5 years) I got down to my current dose of 5mg. My face is back to normal and I feel so much better about myself. I must admit that I still have flares, but I try to manage it without increasing my Pred dose, as I dont like the way it makes me feel. Good on you - keep going! Guest guest
Way to go Jenni! I'm finally down to 5 mg (for the 2nd time) and know how difficult the taper can be. Unfortunately the weight doesn't come off as quickly as it went on (I gained 2 lbs for every 1 mg of pred), but I'm slowly working on that as well. Keep up the great work!
