Bluebonnet Iron - how much for ferritin deficiency?

I've read so much about the Bluebonnet Iron on this board. Just bought some at

Whole Foods, but not sure how much to take. I have three questions.

1. They had the Bluebonnet Chelated Iron 18 mg, which is from bisglycinate

chelate. How many of these (or how many mg) are folks taking each day to

supplement low iron/ferritin?

2. I previously had bought Sundown's " Perfect Iron, " which hs 50 mg Iron (as

Carbonyl Iron) plus 117 mg Calcium (as Dicalcium Phosphate). I started thinking,

though, that the calcium might interfere with the iron absorption. Any thoughts

on this?

3. How can I tell how much " elemental iron " I'm getting from a particular

supplement? For example, if the Blubonnet says 18 mg, am I getting 18 mg of

elemental iron? How much should I be targeting of elemental?

Thanks for your help. I'm starting to realize just how important iron levels are

for thyroid treatment. Your advice and thoughts are greatly appreciated.
