I read some where that they sometimes > add that into the honey and I'm not sure if that has to be disclosed > on the label or not. This is a trick I have read about from a food researcher (he researches cheating on labels etc) but I haven't tried it myself. He found this tip in a book written 1903 when there was a wave of consumer anger about declining quality in the food at the grocers (why does this sound familiar ;-) ) Warm up 2 tablespoons of the honey with 6 tablespoons of alcohol in a jar and then shake very well. Let the mixture stand until completely cool. If the honey has extra added syrup it will fall to the bottom of the jar and look white and sticky. The more added starch or sugar, the more residue on the bottom. If you try this tip, let us know how it worked! Cecilia
Guest guest
Cecilia, just curious, are we talking drinking alcohol or rubbing alcohol? Thanks, I'm gonna try it with what I buy.
