You mentioned using a Maverick, and I was wondering if it makes a fine flour like the store bought nut flours, or do you think a blender or food processor would do the same job? Currently I use my food processor but it produces more of a meal than a flour. I am longing to have a fine ground flour. , I've tried making flour in a blender, and all I succeeded in doing was backing up the blender. I don't own a food processor. The Maverick does a superlative job of making pecan meal equal or better than the pecan meal I can buy commercially. THe almond flour is a little more coarse than the commercial almond flour, and when I priced blanched almonds and realize that locally, whole blanched almonds cost the same as almond flour plus shipping, I figured I did not need yet another Do It Myself project! I love my Maverick -- and besides, you can use it for so many things besides just nut flours! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Marilyn, So are you saying you do not do almond flour in your Maverick? I don't use blanched almonds, just the raw almonds. Is that bad? My daughter doesn't seem to be having a problem with it. I buy them at Costco for $3.33 per pound. I have a Vita-Mix that gives me what I would call almond meal. It's grainy. Would love to make her something lighter. Was hoping the Maverick could grind a finer flour. Can you share what sort of other things you use your Maverick for? If you have time, that is. :-) Thanks, > >I was reading some archives about types of mills for grinding nuts. > >You mentioned using a Maverick, and I was wondering if it makes a fine > >flour like the store bought nut flours, or do you think a blender or > >food processor would do the same job?
