My son

Thanks to all of you who have responded to my questions about my son

possibly having a Herxheimer reaction. I've been reading and trying to put

it all together and understand what's best to help him through this. I did

take him to have an acupuncture treatment (which we did a lot before he had

a diagnosis but haven't done for months) and he felt instantly better. He's

been getting gradually better since then, and we hope he can make it to half

a day of school today. (He turned 14 this week and unfortunately wasn't able

to go to school on his birthday, but we had a good time anyway.)

I've concluded that it was probably a combination of changing the

prednisone too quickly and changing to the real minocycline. It's been a

week since he took that " dive " and the fatigue really came over him. We've

done the baths - I'm sure they help, but it's not incredibly noticeable -

we'll continue to do that. I'm working on his diet and also trying to add

supplements that people recommend. It's so hard to figure all this out and

to figure out what actually helps.

I'm working on getting a doctor who will " quarterback " this for us.

I've got several good doctors who help in various ways, but I have found

myself in the position of managing his care without one doctor who is

coordinating it all or at least helping me make sense of it all. I'm

talking to a young, integrative doctor who is willing to work with me and

who just happens to be my neighbor as well! I'm looking forward to taking

all this information in to her and getting her help.

Thanks again for all of you who responded with your stories and

suggestions. You guys are my life line right now! I thank God for you

all.

Jan
