Would like some direction from Val or Nick on what now.

When I started T3 only beginning of Oct, my Reverse T3 was 16 and my total T3

111. I had been on 1 Grain of natural thyroid (not Armour).

My Ferritin was 14 and I had been unable to tolerate more than 1 Grain of NT

because of heart palps and nervousness.

Today, I have worked my way up to 85 mcgs of T3 only, and have been taking iron

daily for 3 months. My body temp is at 98.6 (WOW, hasn't been there in years!)

I know I should have skipped the iron for 5 days before testing, but I didn't

because I felt I was getting a bit nervous on the third day off, so I took it

the following 2 days and then got tested...(so the 5 days preceding my test I

was on it for the immediate 2 days before)so I know my Ferritin now may be

showing a bit higher than it really is.

I don't want to stay on T3 only because I don't like the idea of being only 3

days away from having NO thyroid in my system, so I really want to return to NT,

but hopefully at a higher dose to keep my temps up (they were always in the

96's.

Here are my results today:

TSH 0.01 (0.4-4.5)

T4 Total 0.7 (4.5-12.5)

Free T4 0.2 (.8-1.8)

Total T3 431 (76-181)

T3 Uptake 32 (only thing in range)

Reverse T3 less than 3 (11-32)

Ferritin 75

It would seem to me my rT3 has cleared even though I can't say I noticed

anything different. Right now I feel like I may be on a bit too much T3 but

very few palps.

How much longer should I stay on T3 and how will I gradually switch. My fear is

getting too much T4 built up again that I go crazy when it's too much and I have

to wait for weeks for it to clear.....

Suggestions would be much appreciated on how to approach my return to NT and

when.

Thanks for all your help and advice. Though I don't post often I read the board

and am thankful for all the help.

If you started slowly and took a while building up on the T3 due to

the lack of iron then you may not have had the T4 lonw enough for long

enough for the RT3 to clear at a cellularlevel yet. I would stay on T3

for another month or so, if your pulse/temperature goes up too high

then drop back a bit in dose.

When you decide to swap back do it VERY slowly keeping a close eye on

temperature and pulse as you swap. There are some suggestions on

swapping here

Good luck

Nick
