Guest guest
Hi Hugh, Did you get actual copies of your labs? You should do this, it will make all the difference in the journey you travel. When we post our labs, it is important to put our labs normal ranges with what our results are. The one test I would get them to run is the TSI autoantibodies tests, actually one other one, the TPO ab test also. The TSI ab's that attack the thyroid are also the culprit in the eye disease. This is why I am on ptu 6 years after RAI to lower those antibodies and help my eyes and it is working! The sicker and older you get the more nurses that look devastatingly cute, it isn't just your eyesight > T4: 6.58 > Free T4: 0.82 > Total T3: 86 Post units and lab norms if possible! Assuming(!) these are all ng/dL or micrograms/dL, they are all at or about bottom of normal ranges so assuming you haven't been abalated with radioactive Iodine and are on antithyroid drugs.... You need to ask " are you being over medicated? " . Your assuming we can remember anything about your posts, apart from the eye exercises in the Thai traffic, but my brain has been toast for the last few weeks and will be till I get back to proper sleeping, so any reminders of your condition/treatment help. > TSH: 1.65 The world over the units seem to be the same for TSH.... Since TSH is often suppressed in Graves patients, all that can be said is this is slightly (minimally, nominally, just a very small bit) above average, and doesn't stop me thinking you might be slightly over medicated... > Endo says this is normal range; any other opinions welcome. And should I > be having any other reading taken, especially anything that might > possibly be relevant to being Mr google eyes? TPO or other antibody tests.... For the eye condition you want a stable euthyroid condition, so the results aren't bad, but you mustn't go hypo either! The eyes however are more related to the underlying antibodies, so regular measurement might be useful. I've been spared eye involvement so far, although my lids are looking damn perculiar at the moment, I think that is just the lid thing, my doctor was looking in my eyes today and didn't notice anything astray, he is gentle, but he isn't devastatingly cute, at least I don't find him so

Thank you so much! Will write you tomorrow on it. I haven't had the chance to read much, this week has been a tad crazy to say the least! _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
Guest guest
Hi Hugh! Been reading your posts - really interesting to have a member in Thailand! Read and chuckled at some of your brief glimpses into life there - fascinating! (my personal favorite is the elephant with the tin foil reflector, laughed so hard at that picture!) I'll echo Simon's suggestion of getting antibodies tested periodically. Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulins (TSI) is another good one to get. Continued high levels here can affect the eye disease. Don't have to get them every time, maybe just a couple times a year. My previous levels were almost identical to yours (assuming the ranges are the same) and I began to wonder if that was too low for me (still wondering!) The normal range on some of these tests is very wide and everyone has their own individual " ideal " range. So it may be that this is too low for _you_. What matters is how _you_ feel. Keep track of how you're feeling and if you seem to have hypo symptoms. It may be that you are overmedicated and need to adjust slightly despite the fact that the values show " normal " . Were these values a large change from your previous values, or do you seem to be stabilizing at this point? Good luck and a belated welcome to the group! Guest guest
Hi Thanks for the welcome; it is good to be here in this Group! My readings have been pretty stable over the past few months; apart from TSH which has been creeping up from almost zero to what is apparently now acceptable. I am being tested again on Monday and will post a more complete set of results, with lab defined normal ranges, then. Will also request the additional tests. Physically and mentally, I feel good! My standard test is to play " comfortably numb " by Pink Floyd and see whether I can resist playing air guitar and jumping round the room! If I can't resist making an idiot of myself; then I am healthy! Naturally this test has to be performed sober! This weekend I am going to have a Thai massage, which I normally avoid cos you are talking serious pummelling, but it does seem to bliss out the body and make the vision better for a while. Next week I may try acupuncture. If none of that works; I will just lay down in front of a passing elephant! Sawadee krap! Guest guest
Simon Thanks for the advice; and I will post all the details after my next test on Monday; and request the extra tests. You are right about cuteness factors!
