Pam,

My measurements slowed down at the end too. I'm short like you also and my Dr. gave me the same reasons. Don't worry (I know, impossible!). But, I know what you mean, it would be nice to be able to see your little one again. Either way though, he/she is going to be here very soon! I'm so excited for you!

Pam, I know it is VERY hard not to worry but I am sure you couldn't see much grow b/c of one of the reasons you mentioned. I am sure everything will be fine and your little one is just keeping you on your toes....already!!! I know the next Friday sounds like forever but you aren't alone, we are here to help you pass the time if we can. {{{HUG}}}}}} All will be just fine...but you are right, another u/s sounds good, just so you can see your little one one more time until you hold your little one in you arms!! Take care. dr appt today Hi LadiesHeres a little update. Everything seems to be going okay. I might have to have another u/s because my uterus growth has slowed down. Although the dr gave me many reasons for it. 1. The babies head is really low. They only measure from the pelvic bone up. and 2. I am a small person. I also went home and did research on the internet. It also mentioned if the baby was on its side it could make the reading off. Which my baby is. So being a normal mom I am kind of concerned. I will go to my appt next Friday and if my measurements are not larger I will have the u/s Oct 2nd. I hope my baby is growing okay. The dr feels my baby will be about 7lbs. In some ways I would like the u/s so I can see my little one again but then again I would just like everything to be okay. This next week is going to seem like the longest.Pam36 weeks

Pam,

All the reasons your Dr. gave you make lots of sense. I bet

everything is fine. The time has gone by so fast, but I think the

last few weeks seem to drag by. Another u/s isn't a bad thing ~ you

get to see your little bundle one more time before actually holding

him or her! :)

Hang in there! We're almost there! :o)

good luck. they told my friend that also when she only had a month to go.

(she is very short and small) and she had to go through all shorts of u/s

and tests. and when the baby was born, she weighed over 8 lbs.

so it is probably were you are small. i have heard that from several people.

Pam,

I am sorry that you are worrying, but the reasons your doctor gave

and you researched sound right on target. Your little one is getting

ready for his/her grand apperance. An ultrasound at this stage would

be great!

Pam,

OK, now why did he say your measurements were off? I accidentally deleted your email after I read it and now I can't remember why he thought that. Since you and Elle are in line ahead of me, I am reading and watching closely you guys experiences so I know what to expect. I am sure everything is fine. My measurements have been predictably a week ahead of schedule (and we all know when I got pg is not up for debate) so I am concerned about having to big a baby. I'll keep you in my prayers that you don't have to miserable a week worrying about it since I am sure sure there is nothing wrong.

Pam,

Well, it makes since there you only have so much in there in there for the baby to stretch out in. I have along torso and I swear the baby is already taking up all the room in there. I don't think Chase has learned that he needs to "curl up" and his feet seem to be constantly under my ribs (ouch) and his head on my bladder. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining, but it is uncomfortable.

I am using the breast shields now, and honestly I can tell a little bit of difference. My bf'ing friends told me that once the baby begins to nurse it will get easier. I think it's the initial latching on that causes so many problems. I am going to try it, and if it doesn't work out, well at least I know I gave it my best shot. I am pretty nervous about it!! At least you go before me and will be able to give me some basic tips on the whole process. I can't believe you are so close to having your little one. I mean by now it could basically be any day right?? I so remember when I first joing this group and you were so supportive. It's just amazing that we have all come so far.

Hi Dana B

I had always been about a week ahead to. I don;t know why but at my

last few appts I didn't ask what my measurements were. I asked Friday

at my 36 week check up and it was 35. The week before was also 35. I

am the same way as you since we know exactly when I conceived. The dr

did say you see a slow down at the end. There are 4 dr's in the

practice I go to. Two of them now in the last month have told me the

head is really low. They only measure from your pelvic bone to the

top of your uterus. I also do not have a long toros. So maybe there

is not more room to go up. I am worried. But I was only 5lbs when I

was born and my dh was under 6. I would think if there was really

something wrong we would have seen a slow down earlier. I also read

on the internet that this type of measuring is good but not always

accurate.

I wanted to tell you that in my breast feeding class they told us if

you have inverted nipples you can still pump so the baby as breast

milk. They also mentioned those shields. She said some women feed

their babies w/the shield on and some are able to take them off after

feeding a little bit because it pulls the nipple out.

I can;t believe how far we have come either. I am really hoping at

this point the baby comes early. As of today I am considered full

term. I am going to finish packing my bag today.

I can tell by the baby's movements that he/she has grown. I feel more

moving around vs kicks. I also can feel a little leg on my right side

a lot of the time.

The breast feeding class we took was very helpful. They did say you

need to give it a good two weeks. I got the same impression about

latching on. They also mentioned that do the best you can if it

doesn't work out thats okay to.

Pam,

With my second baby (Sasha) the dr thought she was small and sent me for an u/s. As it turned out she was 6 lb. 10 oz., which is a good size if you ask me. Try not to worry too much, the measurements can be off and not very accurate.

Thanks Jo-Ann

Its nice to hear this has happened to other women. Everyone carries

differently. I guess I will know more next Fri. I told my dh it would

be nice if I had the baby early and didn't have to worry about all

this stuff.

Pam,

I know you are getting anxious to meet your little one, but he/she is better off where they are right now. The last month of pg they say the baby puts on up to one pound per week. So let your little bundle fatten up, you will be holding your sweet baby very soon and all of these little worries will be a distant memory.

Love & hugs,

Jo-Ann

I know what you mean, the last few weeks seem to take forever. But just think of the reward for your patience.

Pam,

I hope all is ok with your baby too. Was your dr. very concerned? I

hope it is just that the baby's head is really really low....you

know...so when you deliver the baby will just shoot right out (easy

labor and delivery!! :) I know what you mean, it would be nice to " see "

your baby again in the ultrasound, but I want everything to be ok too.

It won't be much longer and you will be holding your baby!!! And we will

know if it is a boy or a girl!!! :) I can hardly wait!

Pam,

I'm sure the growth seems slow due to one of the reasons the dr brought up,

but nonetheless I'm that probably doesn't reduce your anxiety much. I hope

this week goes by very quickly for you...just think it's already about half

over from when you posted the message :)!

Pam,

My friend that just had her baby also measured very small and

looked small, she was getting paranoid too because everyone was saying

that she was too small to be 40 weeks pg, she also carried very low,

Sydney was 7 lbs 2 oz, so I guess she was just fine!! :)

My dr didn't seem that concerned. He didn't even say anything until I

asked what my measurements were. I think he let me set up the u/s

appt because I mentioned how hard it was to get a u/s appt. I made

the appt on Friday and can't get in until Oct 2nd. If I made the appt

this Friday I will probably have the baby before the u/s. The

research I have found basically says a small baby. Although I read

some other bad things. I am small and have a small torso so how high

can my uterus really go. I am shaped very round. My tummy really

sticks out.

Hi Sue,

Your internist has taken the first step in solving the problem. I

understand your being upset and discouraged, but try to relax. Stressing will

only

make the problem worse.

Your blood work is fine. That is a plus. There are other meds that your

doctor/internist can put you on. Give it a few days and I'm sure the water

weight will go down. Keep us posted.
