Food & New York - help please!!

hey all,

I live in the UK and been on SCD for over 8 years now.

We're off to NYC next week - I've never been in the US and am quite

worried about food and eating out in the land of sugar and carbs. All

advice and tips from you guys would be really really appreciated:

where to eat out? steak houses / italian / spanish type places? How

to make sure I get what I want? What are the things to ask to avoid?

I suspect there are many things that are taken for granted in the US

that I dont even think to ask. A friend of mine whos travelled a lot

in the US said they can easily wash lettuce / salad in sugary water -

so how do I even know all eventualities to ask them to avoid?

US 'plain' is probably v different to 'SCD plain'..?

How about breakfast?

If anyone has ideas of even restaurants I would love to hear!
