Guest guest
I appreciate your feedback on this Kim. I didn’t see a reference to this phenomenon in Elaine’s book unless I missed it. Mara said that this hyper-sensitivity occurs in the beginning to middle stages of healing? Thanks again, Donna From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of kkmumbower It's also true that once we've switched to SCD, and detoxed, we become a lot more sensitive to the additives and synthetic chemicals used in most commercially processed foods. So we can't go back -- and maybe we shouldn't go back. I'll do some research and find out if this phenomenon has a name, and more about the process involved. Kim M. Can you reference anything <from Elaine on this? It's a phenomenon that I'd like to understand. Thanks, Donna

Guest guest
Cecile, That question got me thinking about how we measure sensitivity to food. That’s something I’m learning. Prior to SCD I had flares typically once or twice yearly and they would last two months of so, except for a major one a couple of years ago. When not in a flare I could eat anything. When in a flare I would become highly sensitive to food in general…but I would avoid dairy and nuts I have to preface the next statements by saying that I am seeing very slow but steady progress on SCD since I started in February ‘08. My blood work from January compared to August is showing improvements…bone density showed significant gains since one year ago…no more blood in my stools…no stomach pains at all…haven’t had to increase my standard medications and haven’t missed a day of work since starting SCD. On the other side I feel like my body has been responding to food, since I started SCD, as if I’m in a flare, albeit a lessening flare as the months progress. My stools are still loose and I still get a sense of urgency. I thought this was fine until I had a colonoscopy in July and it showed moderately active UC. I believe that even now the UC is still active, though lessening, since July. Even so, that’s the longest time my UC has been active since being diagnosed 11 years ago. Thanks for the question Donna From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of cecilia@...
