Hi all,

I am a - of Silver Creek Soap Co. I make cp soap and have dabbled with

m & p. I have considered trying hp, but haven't yet! I also make lotion bars,

gel candles, lip cremes and am lotion challenged like some of the others - I

guess I just need to change my name to , huh? :)

Now I have waited to make this re-introduction until today because today is

my ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of SOAP MAKING!! Yes folks, one year ago today a

friend and I got together and made 5 batches of soap. We used recipes from

books that I have. Only one batch seized, the rest turned out fairly good.

We just didn't like some of them. Since then, I have come up with my own

basic recipe, have gotten into scent blends - a BIG step for me - and have

continued in this addiction. My friend hasn't made soap since! :( I am not

actually in Silver Creek - YET! But we are hoping to move there by the end

of May - Oh, btw - Silver Creek IS a town in Washington state - even has

it's very own PO. Our property sits on nearly the top of the hill in that

little dairy farm town! We will build our home and soap shop there. This

list was one of the very first I joined when I discovered onelist. So I have

been here, almost a year!

Hi Jane! *waving* Nice to " meet " you! =o)

You asked about other TN soapers. There's that " evil " B in TN but she

went no mail this week because she went on a vacation.

Nice to meet another soap dreamer! People laugh when I ask them if they

dream it yet. =o)

Hey Ann,

Welcome to our group! We have a few crazies here, but we just promise

them cheesecake & brownies and they behave.

I had a pygmy goat named belle Lee...I couldn't sit down anywhere

without her wanting to get on my lap! I think she thought she was a cat

or something! LOL!

Glad to have you here, Ann.

As a fellow New Englander (from MA), I also was laid off about a year ago.

I've been doing M & P since last Sept and have done some craft fairs. I am

curious...what do you generally charge for your soaps? I have been using $1

an ounce as a guideline so a 4 ounce bar is $4. If I have embedded anything

in it, I charge more ($5 or so). I am now starting to think...is it worth

all the time that it takes. By the time I pay the fee and taxes come out and

the cost of materials is deducted, theres not much profit left. What are

your thoughts? Can you really make enough $$ at this to make it worth

while. I LOVE making the m & p which I would continue to do but I am

struggling to figure out is it worth the effort to try and get wholesale

accounts. My understanding is that the wholesalers double the price they pay

so how much can you sell the soap to them for? I would love to share ideas

with you., Thanks. andi

ps. my kids are 8 and 5.

<<<My name is Brigitte. Iv'e been making M & P soap for about a year and a

half.

My Business is just starting to take off. I have a couple of large wholesale

accounts. I do craft fairs and homeshows.

I was layed off last year so I am now a work at home Mom!!! lol I am the

mother of 2 children 5 and 3. We live in CT. >>>
