Guest guest
I completely agree w/ Kathleen. I would go to a doctor and at least get a CBC done to see if your white count is high - this would indicate you're fighting off an infection. You're also the one that said you had a high temp in the evening, right? This could indicate an infection also. You should go see a doctor. For me, I could only tolerate 5mcg of T3 at a time with my T3 dose. I was taking about 30mg of HC with 30mcg of T3. So I basically had to dose in equal numbers ignoring the mg and mcg. For example, if I took 5mg of HC, then 5mcg of T3 was all I could tolerate. 7.5mg HC with 5mcg T3 (remember, 5mcg T3 was the max I could tolerate). 2.5mg HC with 2.5mcg T3. If I took more, then my temp would drop within 30 min. T3 is just waaaay too hard on my adrenals. But once I started the HC weaning process I was able to take 2.5mg HC with 5mcg T3. I believe this was due to my adrenals starting to make my own cortisol again. So your high dosage might be shutting down your adrenals to the point that you're needing full replacement. I still couldn't take any more than 5mcg of T3 at a time, but my temps were fine. So you could be one of those who doesn't need much T3 either. FWIW, I'm switching to bovine raw thyroid (I have a pork allergy so can't take Armour, Nature-Throid, etc), and I am doing very well on it without my temp dropping (except for today because I came down with a cold and needed more HC). T4 and T3 fights for the same receptors, so T4 acts like a time-release (this is how my nutritionist explained it). So I would suggest that as soon as your RT3gets below 250, I would consider adding in T4 or switching to natural thyroid. T3 only is VERY hard on the adrenals. It usually means your cortisol is too low to acommodate the t3 you've just taken. BUT you are already on so much HC, I cannot advise you to take more. Hopefully Val or Nick will chime in here, but if you need this much HC to tolerate t3, I would seriously start looking for some other issues going on, especially if you are feeling hot, unwell, etc. This is exactly what happend to me last year and I couldn't understand either why I needed SO much hc (50 to 70) to tolerate t3. Well, turned out I had mono and didn't even know it! Since then, it's been struggle to get the viruses in check but once I started to work on that, it's still not pefect, but I don't need mega doses of HC anymore and have started the t3 again without so many problems. Guest guest
My wbc count is usually below 4 and last time I checked it was 5.1, which does indicate something going on in me. I can go to the doc, but what should I ask for? EBV, Mono? what else should she look out for? She takes her cue from me, so whatever I ask for she does.... Also, I don't have a thyroid, removed due to cancer. To: RT3_T3 Sent: Wed, January 20, 2010 1:38:07 PMSubject: Re: Re: Nick, Val: sad, confused, lower temps after t3 I completely agree w/ Kathleen. Guest guest
I don't know your history or your symptoms, so I don't really have recommendations on what to tell your doctor to check for. The only thing I have experience with is that I had an abscess in my tooth that I didn't know about that raised my cortisol very high (this was when I was still in earlier stages of adrenal fatigue). The only thing that tipped me off to go see a dentist was I had excruciating pain in my tooth after drinking a hot liquid. Sorry not much help. My wbc count is usually below 4 and last time I checked it was 5.1, which does indicate something going on in me. I can go to the doc, but what should I ask for? Guest guest
thanks for sharing that! I wonder if it's this: I've noticed on the back of my foot I'm bleeding due to a pair of shoes that always has me bleeding there. I wonder if that gobbles up cortisol. Guest guest
Hi, Kathleen.I dose HC 5 times a day now (used to be 6 times), so I just take Cytomel at the same time. I do metabolize meds quickly, so I have to take in smaller, more frequent doses to avoid the ups and downs. It's annoying, but I keep telling myself it's only temporary (at least the HC is). Even then, Cytomel just ate up my cortisol very fast. Most of the time I would take it sublingually, but if I know I won't be eating dairy or iron-rich foods I would take it orally. Oral is a bit better. I don't have experience with SR T3, so I can't comment on it. But I would think that if you can find the right dosage, and you feel fine on it, then it might be a better option. , that's very interesting what you wrote. I'm not sure I can ever take t4 because it just converts to rt3. In fact, I make plenty of t4 naturally, but it won't convert! At any rate, given what you said below, what do you think of the sustained release t3? I know most don't like it here and even I am not sure about it, but it is really a pain to take the cynomel in such tiny doses many times a day. Then again, I have to take the HC 4 times a day anyway. How many times do you dose? Thanks, Kathleen
Guest guest
Anything is possible! If you're in pain then I would bet that it does eat up some cortisol although I'm not sure how much. Have you always felt this way and taken a ton of HC? Or did you come down with something? How's your digestion/absorption? If not already, I would try some betaine HCl. Do you have yeast issues? thanks for sharing that! I wonder if it's this: I've noticed on the back of my foot I'm bleeding due to a pair of shoes that always has me bleeding there. I wonder if that gobbles up cortisol.
