Compounding pharmacy screwed up

Nick,

Just thought you might be interested to know that I talked with the compounding pharmacy about whether it was T4 or T3 slow release they have been giving me. They have given me an Armour like mixture this whole time of both T3 and T4 -UGH!!! So I have wasted 8 weeks and $150 and am very frustrated. They are claiming that my doctor ordered the mixture, but I know it is their screw up!! I guess I am now starting from scratch. Thanks for your advice..

One other quick question -- the generic of cytomel is $15 per month and brand name is $50. If I am understanding correctly, you are saying the generic can be as effective, it just might take a higher dose to get the same effect. The difference in cost is significant and I am hoping that I can figure a way to get the generic to work without having to spend the extra $.

Thanks,

Beth

>Thanks so much. I agree with your gut and felt the same way that they probably filled T3 at tthe T4 dose. I'm lucky I didn't go into cardiac arrest!! Yep>One further quick question. It is the generic Cytomel made by Paddock -- (liothyronine) . Does this change your dosing instructions at all? I'm told by people who have tried it that it seems weak, possiblyabsorbtion issues.I still advocate start low and build up, far safer than the other wayround. As you take your doses for the first few days check pulse and maybetemperature each time you are about to take some, if it's high thendelay the dose for an hour or a few until it drops down again.Nick

The Mexican Cynomel is $49 for 300 tablets (25 mcg each) plus postage

and is very effective.

Give the generic a try and see what you think
