Guest guest
Ann I have not had the headaches with the CoQ but was thinking the increase might be too sudden. You might want to get some 10 mg caps and use them for a very gradual increase. I ramp up on any increase. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Wed, 12 Mar 2003 10:04:59 -0600 > To: > Subject: Re: Question > > Has anybody experienced increased headaches with CoQ10. > > I've had problems with headaches (I don't think they are migraines) for awhile > - but recently as I've tried to increase the CoQ10 per my Doctor's orders, I > have been having horrible headaches - nothing seems to help. Guest guest
Hi Miren, One of my hippy brothers, who was in Belgium with me a couple of weeks ago, is a runner. I don't know if he's posting here but his name is Eugene. I believe he said that he was the 3rd or 4th member of his running group in Tulsa, OK to have resurfacing and they're all back to running. I know he signed up to do the 100 mile Alaska run this coming fall. 2/19/03 BHR DeSmet > Hallo to all you surfacehippies! > I am very happy to find a large group of people with common problem. Guest guest
Thanks to all of you who answered me re: CoQ10. I have continued to have much less of a headache since I reduced the dose. Before I reduced it, I had 10 straight days of a monster headache that nothing helped. I can't say I'm headache free (and I definitely had some headache problems before I started the CoQ10 - but - I'm thinking that the higher dose made them MUCH worse. Guest guest
I have never understood how people can go through the discomfort of surgery and recovery to then immediatly turn around and engage in risky behavior (i.e. running) that most likely help damage their natural hip and probably will shorten the life of the implant putting them right back in their previous situation. As much as I used to enjoy running (and competing in triathlons), I just don't do it anymore, and I don't intend to do it. I like this new hip of mine too much to risk damage to it, and there are too many other pleasant things out there to amuse me. I might be naive, but I intend to keep this hip of mine a long, long time, and I intend to stay out of orthopeadic operating rooms. _______________________________________________ No banners. Guest guest
Hildreth, chemo regimes vary. Some are given one week straight, every day, with time off between the next treatment...others are given one day a week for six weeks, and then time off...it all depends. My husband currently goes once every two weeks for Leuc/Oxaliplatin drip followed by 5fu push and then wears a pump the administers 5fu over a period of 48 hours as an outpatient. He unhooks himself and doesn't go back in for another two weeks. If my mom partakes in a clinical trial for which her onc is recommending her, she will go in 5 days straight, every day, and then two weeks off. So again, it all depends what kind of chemo combo, dosage, etc. Monika > I know each case is different but can somebody give me a idea of the average of how often chemo is given. Is it every day or does it depend? > > Hildreth > > >

Guest guest
Hildreth-There is some variation in chemotherapy protecols and types of drugs given. I receive oxaliplatin once every two weeks, along with oral Xeloda for 5 days. The infusion of oxaliplatin takes 2 hrs. I also lobbied to receive an infusion of calcium/magnesium for 1 hr before and 1 hr after, which some reports have shown to lessen long term side effects. As for who to go to, it may be worth visiting a larger cancer center to get their suggestions since this change in the status of your disease, even if you recieve treatments from an oncologist at a smaller practice closer to home. Larger centers, which often preform clinical trials are often have more experience with newer treatments, and often work with local oncologists to optimize treatment. Here is hoping that things go well, Kris
