Guest guest
I love to hear that, " you get as long as you want " ! Like most of us, the doctors seemed in such a rush when I was first diagnosed. The doctor told me what was wrong and said, what do you want ATDs or RAI? And he expected me to make a decision right then and there without any research into either of them. Without even knowing anything about graves. I've always been a book person, and my instinct with anything is to run out and read a book about it or spend hours in the library looking for information. My husband has always kind of made fun of me for it... when I was pregnant I had a whole library on my nightstand! But now I'm grateful to be so because I think you have to be to manage something like Graves. Re: Question > This doctor has been OK, but she does mention RAI > everytime I see her. Kristi, I'd say you are being rushed! Your body and mind need time and your instincts know it. Follow those gut reactions, they can tell you alot. If your doc is not willing to give you the time you need to find balance, then maybe you should look for another. SOme people take ATD's for years and years. You get as long as you want! Guest guest
I know it has been suggested a few times and I have tried it and it works.......use the socks with the grippy treads on the bottom. Also, I know a few have doubled the socks but I prefer the grippy bottoms. Hope that helps! Good to hear from you and Congratulations! We had another baby back in April, and he was born with one clubfoot. He was seen at the Nemours Clinic in Orlando and had a total of 5 sets of casts, beginning at 8 days old. He had a tenotomy before his final set of casts as usual. His casts came off about a week ago now, and we've been fighting to keep his foot in the dbb ever since. We took his shoes to a local orthotist and he put something in the back of the shoe to keep his foot in, but it's not working either. I remember a long time ago, when (our 2 yo who had bilateral clubfeet) was just in the dbb that one of the other children was having a hard time keeping his foot in the brace. Any suggestions? Guest guest
He's in a 000...the orthotist said that was the smallest they had. When I get his foot in the shoe to begin with, his toes come to the end of the fringe. The buckle is on the last hole, and we tie the shoe as tight as we can. We're having a problem with his ex-clubfoot...the other foot doesn't have this problem, but it is a little bigger. We even tried just putting the shoe on without the brace, but he still gets out of it. Kim and ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
Amy, I must have given birth to Houdini! The buckle on his shoe was so tight I could barely get my fingertip in there at all, and he still got out of it! I'm going to try to call Dr. Ponseti's office this afternoon and see what he says. Guest guest
Kim, I'm afraid your little guy has exhausted all of my resources! I think it's a great idea to call Dr. Ponseti. Guest guest
Amy, I called Dr. Ponseti yesterday afternoon, and he believes that the problem is that the brace was not wide enough. His shoulders are about 7 inches wide, but between the backs of the shoes was only 5. My husband is out looking for an allen (?) wrench small enough right now. I also talked to last night and she suggested that we lace his shoes upside down and tie them at his toes instead of his ankle. I'll let you know how it goes! Guest guest
Try some decaf tea or decaf coffee or maybe some Crystal light? Anything caffiene free AND sugar free. Splenda is good, I think it still has a bit of an after taste though. Lori! > Hi everyone, > Well, first of all I went to the OB yesterday, and US I was put at 10 weeks so my edd is now January 1,2003. Guest guest
You might consider squeezing a little lemon into your water; when I was pg, anything citrusy would remedy that feeling. Lori's suggestion of decaf tea is also good; maybe some Celestial Seasonings peach tea or lemon tea? Guest guest
I had that, too. It was a sign that my pelvis was loosening up considerably and it was pinching the leg nerve badly. It was NOT fun!! I limped all the time, especially after having been seated for a while. I'm trying to remember now what the OB called it... I thought it was sciatica, but he said no, that it was actually this other thing (dangit, can't remember now what he called it...) (if I think of it, I'll post it). Guest guest
Yep - it sounds like what you had. I notice it more when I get up from my desk to walk around or rush to the bathroom. Yowza! Everyone looks at me like I am losing it because I look like a goofball when the pain hits. Thanks, Merry Re: Question I had that, too. Guest guest
YES! That's exactly what happened to me. I would be sitting somewhere and get up to do something, and I'd almost collapse from the pain in my hip/leg! URRR I wish I could remember what that was... durnit. Anyway, sounds like you've got whatever-it-is too. It did eventually subside a few days after delivery. K Merry_Shaw@... wrote: >Yep - it sounds like what you had.
