update on my doggy

OK... Actually 's doggy (it was his bday present). Anyway, we took him to the vet yesterday. They are not going to do anything for the seizures yet... The "first" one we did not witness and only have second hand info from my dad so the vet said it's too hard to determine if it was or wasn't. And even if it was it's been a few months since so they wouldn't do anything anyway. He says the seizure could have been caused by excitement (Buddy was at the door barking at birds right before it happened) and as of right now there is no reason to believe it is caused by a tumor or anything else. The only treatment for seizures would be a barbituate anyway... and that would completely destroy his personality. He says that a life-long treatment isn't really necessary (and may be more dangerous) for something that happens occasionally, and may never happen again. Basically, if Buddy has any more seizures just write down when, what they were like and how Buddy acted before and after. If they move to once a week, then we will do x-rays and bloodwork to determine the cause and medicate then. So anyway, he's ok just the way he is right now. However, he does have an infection in both ears and in one of his eyes so he's on medicine for that for the next week. Guess it's a good thing we had to take him in bc we hadn't noticed him messing with his ears... it was just found on exam. AmyA, I am so happy to hear Buddy is ok. I hope the seizures do not return!! Hope his ear infection and eye infection clear up soon!! Yeah, Buddy is ok!! I hate to hear about an animal who is sick!!
