282/27.3 = 10.32

Pretty horrible but you are very hypo in both FT3 and FT4.

Are you on anything??

It may be that natural will bring the FT3 up without RT3 coming up as

well as the FT4 is low.

Even if the FT3 was top of the range and RT3 didn't move up you would

only have a ratio of 15 so that probably wouldn't work.

T3 only is the safest way to get the RT3 down

thanks nick, i couldn't figure out how to do the ratio.

i just had an initial appt w/an ND who has prescribed cytomel-very low dose to

start (5mcg). she wants me to start this low for a week and see how i do. i've

been taking assorted herbal formulas, iodoral (12.5mg per day), isocort for

adrenal fatigue (have low cortisol).

i'm wondering if i should continue with the iodine? (this is all very confusing

and new to me!)

thanks, susan

I doubt that it will do much either way, it depends how you aim to

medicate.

if you do the T3 only route and he will give you enough then it won't

do any good and may cause problems.

thanks nick, may i ask what " problems " i may anticipate if i continue with the

iodine and my dose of T3 is upped?

also, i'm wondering if there is an average time period that people stay on T3 to

clear the RT3 problem or if it varies a lot? do most people go on to taking

armour or other natural thyroid after clearing RT3?

thanks susan

Iodine promotes T4 production. That's not what you want if you are

trying to go T3 only.

>also, i'm wondering if there is an average time period that people stay on T3

Generally clearance takes around 12 weeks. It's good to stay on T3 for

another month or so after that.

Most people try swapping back and some succeed, some decide to go back

to T3 and stay there.
