Guest guest
I had to share this experience. I just started on T3-only therapy with Cytomel a couple of weeks ago and was feeling great. Two nights in a row I forgot to take my bedtime dose. Then yesterday I went to the pharmacy to fill my prescription, which my doc had written to increase my dose from 2 to 4 pills daily, but insurance wouldn't fill the script because not enough time had passed, even with the doubling of the prescription. (yes, I know, myh doc doesn't seem to know that I'll have to ramp up the T3 over time...) My insurance co made me wait until today to fill the script. However, the pharmacy yesterday gave me five " generic Cytomel " - Liothyromine tablets - to get me through. I took the first two yesterday. The generic doesn't work sublingually -- the crumble -- so I had to swallow the pills. Today was an absolute nightmare physically! My temps normally swing between 97.5 and 97.9. Today they were at 98.5 upon waking, then dropping to 98.3 by around 3 pm. I was an emotional wreck, anxious worried, unproductive, couldn't focus, crying bouts. By 6 p.m. my temps had dropped to 97.5 and my emotions were uncontrollably depressed. Thank God for good friends who somehow sensed I was in trouble and happened to call me. I picked up the new prescription for Cytomel at around 8 p.m. and immediately took 10 mg sublingually. Within about an hour my emotions were not quite so raw, and my temp was at 98.0. I'm exhausted, but seem to be getting better. Things aren't so dire and panicky now. Has anyone else had such a dramatic experience with the shift from Cytomel to generic? What do you make of the full-degree temp fluctuations and raw emotions that I experienced all day? I can't imagine what I would have done if my doc had initially put me on the generic formula. Interesting, than's for sharing that. I wonder whether taking more would have done it. It sounds a bit llike I did on New Armour, I felt very strange with a mix of hypo/hyper symptoms then. It sounds like it may have been causing adrenal stress. Nick
Guest guest
I am just curious how much Cytomel you were taking before getting the genric from the pharmacist. I started on the generic and felt like it may me feel worse. I only took 2.5mg at night and felt anxious the next morning. I took it at night because my cortisol is hight at night and felt it was the safest time to do it. I have mid range in the morning and didn't want to zap my adrenals then... Interesting.... Thanks for sharing. They say that genrics are the same, but I beg to differ on some of the medications.
