Guest guest
>Sorry, I just wrote again and our emails crossed. To answer your questions, I'm on 10 mg/day of HC, with caution from my doc not to go higher than that till he has a chance to hear how I respond to the protocol. He's conservative about HC. I've graphed my daily temps for the past two weeks. The range right now is .4 over that time period. > >Here are the labs from just before I started the HC and iron. Thanks so much for your help. You are going to need a LOT more HC than that. You are horribly hypo and have the worst FT3/RT3 ratio I have seen in the 9 months I have been on the group, first as someone with problems and then staying on to help Val out and putting the web site together >T3, free, serum 2.1 (2.0-4.4) pg/mL >RT3 434 ( 90-350) pg/mL 2100/434 = 4.8. Needs to be over 20 Also horribly hypo, that FT3 will need to be around 5 or 6 to feel really well. >Cortisol >5.6 at 6:00 a.m. optimal range 7:00 a.m.: 7.0-10 ng/ml needs to be top of range >2.1 at 11:00 a.m. optimal range noon: 3.0-6.0 ng/ml Needs to be 3/4 of range or more, say 5 >2.6 at 5:00 p.m. optimal range 5:00 p.m.: 2.0-4.0 ng/ml That one is just OK, be better a little higher >1.0 at 10:00 p.m. optimal range 10:00 p.m.: 1.5 ng/ml That is OK When people have adrenal issues the " feedback loop " gets disturbed and if they take a small dose of HC it can end up leaving them worse off than they were without it. Taking too little suppresses your own production while not providing enough additional hormone.. Val has been giving adrenal advice for a LONG time and I am sure she will say you will need to take 20 to 30 of HC with a STARTING dose of 20. You may need to go up to 40 at some stage. I've marked the subject line to try and attract her attention as she is far more experienced at adrenal issues than I am. The recommended routine will be to supplement HC and adjust the dose until the average temperatures stabilize, after that increase T3 as per the web site but taking it slowly as you will need to get the iron up to be able to tolerate the T3. You might want to consider iron IV to shorten the journey http://www.venofer.com/ The good news is your Chronic Fatigue is thoroughly explained by those labs and there is no reason why in 6 months time you can't be feeling a LOT better as long as the Drs don't get in the way of you needing a decent dose of HC and to go onto T3 only, we normally say a minimum of 3 months but in your case I suspect it may take longer as I have never seen labs that bad. The other good news is you have done your homework well and got all the right labs done. I've rarely seen such a consise summary of why someone will be feeling like death warmed up (slightly). Good luck on your journey and feel free to ask questions Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
