Do you take a folic acid supplement? (I don't know what Emset is.) Folic acid supplementation is important, because methotrexate removes it from the body. Many of the side effects of methotrexate can be helped with folic acid. My rheumatologist has me on 2 mg. a day. Sierra
Guest guest
In addition to taking Folic Acid and/or Leucovorin you might ask about injections of Methotrexate instead of the pills. Many people have fewer side effects with the injections. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: prathiba n Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Tuesday, January 11, 2005 5:59 AM Subject: what do i do for to avoid sickness having methotrexate Hi all, I'm taking methotrexate every saturday and i fell pukish through out the week, and i take Emset for to avoid Nausea - what can i do to avoid or have a better life with methotrexate. I take my Mtx Friday night before bed and sleep away the side effects. Don't get much done on Saturday. Lynette
Guest guest
I agree on the folic acid. I take 1 pill per day but 2 the day before my injection. I do have injections - they make me feel much less ill than pills and you get it over with faster. In addition to the folic I take a long acting Gravol about 10 minutes before I have it. I have it done late in the day so I just end up going to bed early as it does make me tired (exhausted) and I also need to drink a LOT of water. Also easy to digest food - no heavy fats and processed food. Something like chicken breast and rice even though the Gravol makes me want to eat everything I see. Fruit is also really good. So I do feel it but after an easy evening and a night's sleep I just feel midly crappy on the morning after for a few hours. That's with 20 mg per week Annette > > Hi all, > > > > I'm taking methotrexate every saturday and i fell pukish through > out the week, and i take Emset for to avoid Nausea - what can i do to > avoid or have a better life with methotrexate. > > Do you take a folic acid supplement?
