Elaine,

You just don't know how important this information is to me. It may finally

provide me with an answer to the symptoms I've been feeling for many years.

Just a few more questions please on this subject. Are you aware of any cases

where someone remains in Hashitoxicosis and never goes hypothyroid? Also,

once you've had hashitoxicosis and become hypothyroid, does that prevent you

from returning to the hastoxicosis state or can you go back and forth? Thanks

so much for your consideration and time. I want to have all my information in

place so when I go to the new doctor, I can speak from an educated

perspective on this whole thing.

Hi Elaine,

Could one also develop Hashitoxicosis while on ATDs?

Thanks,

Ann

Hi Ann,

After Hashitoxicosis you can move to hypothyroidism once your immune system

quits producing TSI or producing little compared to the other thyroid

antibodies. You can move from one condition to another with it not being unusual

to have hyperT, hypoT, and Hashitoxicosis at different times in one lifetime.

Take care, Elaine

Hi Ann,

I haven't seen any studies discussing moving into Hashitoxicosis while on

ATDs but it's certainly possible since people on ATDs can move into

spontaneous hypothyroidism. It all depends on what antibodies are being

produced at the time.
