Guest guest
Val said that a hot shower can drain the body from cortisol. I Feel more and more than hot showers drain me. Should I stress dose after a hot shower every time? 2.5 mg HC? I am already at 27.5 mg HC and I look horribly bloated in my face and my tummy is big too. Guest guest
How do hot showers drain cortisol? I was just thinking yesterday that I always feel so tired after a hot shower, but I'm always so cold (still) that I love my hot showers in the morning.Thx. >Should I stress dose after a hot shower every time? 2.5 mg HC? Guest guest
I had always assumed the hot showers were vasodilating and causing my blood pressure to drop. Never heard that it can drain cortisol. I'd like to know how they drain cortisol, too. (, I am the same - crave hot showers to warm me up, but they drain me!) > > > > >Should I stress dose after a hot shower every time? 2.5 mg HC? Guest guest
Hot showers can drain even healthy people, make you dizzy, etc., just like hot tubs, saunas, sunbathing, etc. I am not sure why it does this (I used to but forget), but I don't think it was low cortisol as it happens to perfectly normal people, too. > > > > > > >Should I stress dose after a hot shower every time? 2.5 mg HC? Guest guest
I am thinking it's because with the hot shower it's causing us to sweat, which in turn causes us to lose salt and the salt is what supports our adrenals. I know that I have been taking a cooler shower and it seems to help me. I never took a really hot shower, but I do miss it being warmer. From: carol47@... Don't know for sure but speculating here:- Blood capillary control is by cortisol, hence the " sitting/standing " blood pressure test. If you heat the outer parts of the body then cortisol will be involved in adjusting those capillaries again as you cool down. This MAY be something to do with it. Guest guest
This is a concern for me as of today because I just started using the steam room in my gym and the sauna. I'm on 15mg of Cortef now b/c I'm trying to wean off and see if I still need it. Would steam rooms also be a problem for me being on Cortef? My skin gets very red, especially my face, but one of the ladies said that is good, it means my skin is opening up and getting rid of excess dirt or whatever. Should I be concerned about using the steam room. My massage therapist said it would be helpful for all my muscle pain. > > Val said that a hot shower can drain the body from cortisol. Guest guest
None of those people know anything about AF now do they... I don't know much myself, but.. Guest guest
This comment interstes me. I almost could not find this thread and thought it was on the Adrenal forum and posted there as well. Sorry for the duplication. Val can you explain why hot showers lower cortisol. I always feel worse afert a after a hot shower and am wondering if this is why. I usually take a hot shower and then take my thyroid meds about 20 min after a hot shower as I am getting ready for the day. On the weekend when I take the meds and take a shower later I do better. This is interesting to me. Thanks for any insight. > > > > > > Val said that a hot shower can drain the body from cortisol. I Feel more and more than hot showers drain me. Guest guest
This question interests me too. I stopped taking showers in July and have only taken baths since. To take a shower would leave me so exhausted that I'd have to nap before I could dry my hair or continue getting ready. I don't take hot showers either - only mildly warm. I look forward to learning more. Subject: Re: Hot showers and cortisolTo: RT3_T3 Date: Monday, January 25, 2010, 10:32 PM This comment interstes me.
