Hi, I've been on SCD for about 2 weeks now. I've become desperate and

decided I needed to be proactive.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's and UC combo at age 45, about 2 years

ago. I personally believe it's from Splenda but that's another

topic... I have hemmoraging and no pain. I was symptom free for about

3 months until August.

I am now on Humira ($50K a year with no noticible change) and the doc

just put me back me on Azathioprine. I took Asacol and then Lialda

for 1.5 years previously but it didn't do much. After 9 months of

Prednizone, 40 pounds of weight gain, I am so sick and tired of being

sick and tired- please help if you can.

I've NOW read that there is a starter diet on PecanBread.com so I

should restart with the starter diet. Check.

I've watched Gail's fabulous video on how to make yogurt. Of course I

beat the first batch so badly I'm assuming I kicked every bacteria's

ass royally. Can now make yogurt. Check.

I have all the food, juices and fruits that I'm betting aren't on the

starter diet- shopping done- check

I have Probiotics- check

I have other herbs and homepathics in vegetable capsules- check

I'm drinking Real Lemonade with Saccrin- check

So two weeks and no affect that I've noticed. Do you think it's

because I didn't do the starter? Does anyone know if a Probiotic and

yogurt are too many bacteria? Has anyone noticed if Humira made a

difference? How about other things that have worked on combination

with the SCD? Is there a site to talk about treatments that anyone

knows about? I know I still have a lot of research to do and any

guidance and input is appreciated.

By the way, no one had ever asked my doctor about SCD. She'd never

heard of it. I gave her a copy of BTVC. She encouraged me. Some docs

are open..

Is that a brand or homemade? Anyway, even homemade might not

be the best thing for the beginner diet. Introduce that

after you have begun and been on the diet for a while.

Impossible to be sure but it is very likely. You have to start with the

beginner diet, which is in BTVC. Read that part carefully.

> Does anyone know if a Probiotic and

>yogurt are too many bacteria?

No, they're not for most people. But you might want to start again,

introducing things separately to see what your system can handle.

The SCD is all about individual reactions - maybe your system can't

handle that much right now. Start by introducing a very small

amount of yogurt (a tablespoon or so) on the beginning diet and

increasing slowly after a few days only after not having a reaction to it.

>Has anyone noticed if Humira made a

>difference?

It has for some and not for others. Everything here is individual. It

may or may not work for you.

>How about other things that have worked on combination

You can talk about it here. Or there is also the GAPS diet - another

version of SCD which has a different emphasis in the starter diet.
