Guest guest
Hello,I don't see where it lists the cultures in each starter. We'd need to know exactly what cultures are in it in order to tell you if it is legal or not.The legal strains for SCD yogurt are, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus acidophilus (optional). You do not have to have a yogurt maker in order to make SCD yogurt. There are several ways around it. You can use a heating pad, crockpot (will have to purchase a dimmer switch. they cost approx $10), your oven....basically any place that you can keep between 100-110*F for 24 hours can be used to make yogurt. There are instructions here for how to do it using a heating pad, http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/yoghurt/heating_pad_yoghurt.htm or http://tinyurl.com/67b7rtThere are instructions here for using a foam cooler or cabinet, http://www.cookingforceliacscolitiscrohnsandibs.com/cooking_for/content/how_to_make_yogurt.html or http://tinyurl.com/5z5o4vIf you would like the instructions for making yogurt in a crockpot, let me know. I have them written out somewhere. I just have to find it.Best wishes,Kim H.husband, , CD 1999, SCD 2002 Can any other cultures be used to create scd yogurt so you don't need a yogurt maker... like these cultures http://www.cultures forhealth. com/zen/index. php? main_page=index & cPath=1 & zenid= 589cc4641fc38753 c2a913120e55e4b0
Guest guest
got it, I thought they were cultures, but they are starters. I am still getting this all down. they all (except the greek) make yogurt at room temp, I assume this isn't what I would want since I haven't come accross anything yet about it when searching scd sites. > > Hello, > I don't see where it lists the cultures in each starter.
