does RT3 dominance mess with starting HC?

Hi. I've been on this list for a bit.

A bit of background: My ratio is 11, down from 17 after a switch from one grain

of armour to 2 grains of NT, so obviously I'm not converting or utilizing the

NT. I felt like I was in mud when I increased. Bad. I then tried to switch to

just T3 and that was a disaster (zero hyper sxs, more like increased hypo sxs

and more brain fog and like I was on horrible drugs - could NOT function),

(After the increase, my T3 was lowish, but def. higher, my TSH dropped extremely

low and T4 low). I found out my cortisol was low, after being high, talking to

awesome Val on the phone Saturday before last, and am on 27.5mcg of cortisol

(for 10 days now), divided 5x/day. Major symptom is diminished

consciousness/brain fog/cognitive impairment. Along with fatigue - though used

to be able to be hyper, too. (I know you'll ask - my ferritin was 6, did IVs,

got it up to 130, now dropped to 88, so I can't hold it, but it's okay for now.

Testing again tomorrow.)

Two questions.

I read in STTM book (read it cover to cover, along with Jeffries and Peatfield's

books!) and Janie says that you should lower your thyroid while raising HC

because it could shoot up once it starts being able to go into your cells. She

said even if you're only on 25mcg that could be too much for your adrenals and

you might need half that amount. When you have RT3 dominance, I'm assuming

that's not the case at all. Is that correct?!? I've had no hyper sxs, but

though I felt like HC was helping (I KNOW it is part of the answer) - I felt a

bit more energy and it felt like that feeling of pushing a boulder up a cliff to

think was diminishing some. yay!!!

But that progress is now going away. :-( I can't tell if it's that I'm on too

much HC, or it's an RT3 thing or something else. I always get the atypical

response. I still have brain fog like hell and my temps are getting higher

with the cortisol - they were averaging 97.6 forever (my pulse avg. was 57, now

60. BP was 87/47, though a bit higher on fludro But, now it's being weird and

like 117/54 - systolic going up, but diastolic won't, which I know is telling me

something, but what?). Anyway, I'm now up to 98.6 in the afternoon

sometimes!!!!!!! - Unheard of - but that feels too warm to me. And, OMG my

hands are warm!! I may be a mammal after all!!! I took my temp, thinking it

would be high, but it's at 98.6. Still around 97.9 in the mornings. (I know

thyroid raises temps and adrenals stabilize them, so this is confusing). Now,

as I said, I feel like I'm going back a bit. I'll post on the adrenal list when

it's back, but I just really wanted to rule out any RT3 cause or complication or

RT3 confusion I'm having, since that's a big piece of the puzzle for me, and the

books don't address it thoroughly (Peatfield, though his book is great,

dismisses it!)

I also feel a bit dizzy again, all more in the afternoon. (I did lower my

fludro from .125 to 1 because of going on HC. I'm on 1/2 grain NT and 25mcg

cytomel, dosing 4x/day.) But, I don't think this is the reason.

Does this make any sense?!?

Thanks Nick or Val!

Hope you both (and all) are doing well.

Carol
