Guest guest
Yeah! I've just made these, and I finally have " chips " to eat! I've missed mindessly eating popcorn while watching a movie. Now I can mindlessly munch and not have bad consequences! My husband (not on the diet) really likes them too. I had to tell him, " get your own bag! Does anyone know what is in seasoned salt? It would be fun to try a sea salt and vinegar version of this (my favorite kind of potato chip.) I suspect you could spray the kale with an oil and vinegar dressing, salt it, then bake it until crisp. I plan to use some hurricane dressing.... — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
I bought some kale yesterday, and decided to try some of these chips. I think having an oil mister would make it go quicker and easier. I will also note that one should trim the heavy stems out of the kale leaves, or you may have a slightly squishy center. The first batch, I made with olive oil and salt, and got WAY too much salt on it. The second batch, I trimmed the leaves, tossed them with Hurricane Dressing, and baked. These were very good, though surprisingly mild tasting. I might consider doubling the amount of seasoning and salt in the dressing, OR I might toss them with vinegar and oil, and then sprinkle with the seasoning. You need surprisingly little oil to get the flavor. I bet you could make some interesting variations by changing the kinds of oils you used on these, also. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
Thanks for the post...I loved these and more importantly, so did my 2 y.o. picky eater son! His first leafy green veggie that I didn't have to " hide " in another recipe I did have to make some adjustments for my oven -- I dropped the temp down to 315 after the first batch came out a little to close to burnt for my taste, and left it in there for 12 minutes. Perfect. Also, to coat with oil, I rubbed it on the leaves while they were whole, then tore off the tough stems and ripped the leaf into smaller pieces (about 5-6 pieces per leaf.) I only added salt -- I like using the Himalayan pink salt or other exotic salts that have a fuller, richer flavor (IMHO.) Be careful of smoked salts, these can have additives. One bunch of Kale made a lot of chips, and we had an office get-together for my husband's work that evening...so I brought the rest of the bowl, and they were a hit -- who knew kale could be so popular!?!
