According to my BNF, amoxycillin absorption is unaffected by the presence of

food in the stomach, if that is any help!

My DS, Calvin - almost 11 months old - has a chest infection and is on

antibiotics for the first time. He's doing much better and now I'm

thinking about trying to limit the 'damage' that the amoxycillan can do

and have started feeding him a bit of yogurt. How much should I give him?

How far away from the time I give the antibiotic? Will it do any good

while he's still getting the antibiotics, or should I just do it once the

course is done?

TIA<

Phyllis (mom to Calvin 1/1/00 and feeling much better after only 2 days on

the medecine, thanks)

Sorry, I must not have been very clear with my questions. I'm more worried

about the amoxycillan killing all the lovely active acidophilus before it

has even the slightest chance of recolonising his gut.
